You got one hell of a vendetta against me don't you Lance? Every time there is some discussion where there is an opposing view in a thread it's like you look for me. I'm not trying to fight with you (or anybody.) I should be allowed to stand up for what I wanna say and you have a right to disagree, not constantly take a blow at me.

Why can't the mater stay a place where you can post an opinion and expect a valid agreement or disagreement without personal judgement on either:

1. One's past post history
2. One's grammer
3. One's intelligence

I, and many others on here, have a rocky history with alot of members on here and why can't this site just be drama free. It's really getting old. This needs to be a site where the pure enjoyment can come back and people do not have to fear what kind of responses any opinion may get.

I can give you several possibilities:

• Maybe the two beams in the two lanes aren't precisely even (exactly 1320' from the start).
• Maybe the painted stripe on the track isn't perfectly perpendicular, so the camera shot looks wrong.
• Maybe the camera lens isn't perfectly ground and it introduces a subtle distortion that makes the far lane look different.
• Maybe the center block on the track wasn't aligned right and that faked out the system some how.
• Maybe the beam in Erica's lane got triggered early by some debris (already discounted by Alan above).
• Maybe there is something in the design of Alan's car that reflected the signal from the beam just like the center block does for a fraction of a millisecond.
• Maybe there is a cabling issue that makes one lane need a slightly stronger signal to trigger the circuit than the other.
• Maybe there is a bug in the Compulink program where some sequence of events causes the program to stutter for a fraction of a millisecond (its running MS-DOS for god's sake) and it missed the signal from Alan's car.
• Maybe there was a spike in the voltage on the lines running down the track that introduced some RFI on the lines (the wires are over a 1/4 mile long, for gosh sakes).
• Maybe someone in the control tower was typing on the Compulink computer at the time and that invoked some tiny little interrupt in the system for the briefest of moments.
• Maybe a sunspot caused a brief burst of infrared that faked out Erica's lane's sensor.

And now, I'm just messing with you. This is a dead issue. She won. It's over. The only thing I'm trying to teach YOU is that your continuous and ridiculous insistence that adding up the data from the same computer that declared the winner is stupid -- IF that computer was wrong. It wasn't (or probably wasn't ).

This statement is interesting in that your entire argument assumes exactly that, "that electronics could never be wrong" at such a wonderful place as Bristol. Yet you made this post a few pages ago:

Electronics never failed here, nothing tripped the beam...The "system" worked in the way it was supposed to....

I don't think Bristol has been operating with a faulty an inaccurate timing system and excuse me if I am wrong, but it sounds like a brewing conspiracy.

I have no further comment, except to say...EE won, and now the discussion has become "Under what circumstances could a win have been given to the wrong car." That's probably where CLW is coming from, but I'm sure he can speak for himself.

BTW, moderators don't suddenly call themselves moderators, the owners of message board web sites appoint volunteers to be moderators. Just because you are a "moderator" doesn't mean you give up your rights on the board and can't get involved in spirited debates and have opinions. CLW and I have had our fair share of spirited debates. Using the "moderator" card sucks.

Patrick..you bring the drama on all by yourself. No where in this thread did Chris put you down. It's a valid debate/argument (we keep it going here even though it's a done deal). He's not taking any blows at you anymore than you are him.

no one needs to have any defense because i'm not bringing any offense, except for it was a bad choice on my part to make the moderator comment. I'll let it die and i want no one to feel any disrespect. I will be on the lookout if this happens again with the beams. I never said electronics never fail, i said electronics did not fail here. That was my whole point and maybe it's my fault for thinking that people were thinking that Allen won this race and got robbed somehow. I see what your saying Chris and accept my appologizes cause alot of issues on here could probably be avoided if a post is read twice before we type a response. I'm guilty of common human nature

lol it was a downhill free for all. I been on this site since 2004 and had 3 different user names and won't tell anyone who I am, though you all do know me as somebody else. I find it amazing that this site has managed to prevail and I wanna help it grow yet others and myself included dont always say the right things.

I feel this site also should go back to user chosen usernames as real names are too personal. Every user should have a chance to make a username and that way no one will ever know exactly who they are talking to and it will make things honest on here.

Three points and I promise I'll shut up, at least on this thread

1) Erica won, the system that declares the winner declared it so, and unlike in the Steve Johnson case, the TV images are not conclusive to the contrary. The who won/lost in this case is settled law, especially since none of the participants are protesting it. As RG noted, this has moved beyond a discussion of this particular case.

2) The ONLY point I've kept trying to make (that seems to continuously pass several people by) is that adding up the two (RT+ET) sums and comparing them proves nothing. If the computer system chose the wrong winner it is not despite errors in the timing, it's because of them. Constantly telling me to "do the math" is part of completely missing this point. If the system made an error in choosing the winner, it also made an error in the timing, and vice-versa.

3) As others have noted, being a moderator means that we try to keep things civil, non-personal, and in the right forums (NHRA in here, politics in there, etc.). It does NOT mean we can't participate in the discussion or have an opinion. Yes, we try to be more civil than most, but we are just as entitled to disagree with you as anyone.

Using real names is what keeps people honest because now their name is attached to the words they post. I've had people drop by my pit area and continue discussions that went on here. The heat treated chassis discussion comes to mind.

As far as moderators go, I am a moderator on another popular web site...and I've had MY posts deleted by other moderators and the owner of the site when the discussions got too lively or too far off track. All that to say moderators are people, too.

This site is much improved, and far more professional after the switch to real names. I was on this site before the switch and it was often out of control. I've visited yellow bucket dot com and was quickly reminded of what I didn't like about usernames. Crazy, baseless allogations. Wild rumors, anger...and on, and on.

Please leave this site the way it is, and let the trouble makers enjoy their yellow bucket. I find it ironic that urine is yellow and so is that boards name...
