It's a list of suggestions on things you could do short little videos about. Those would fill the downtime.
I'm not saying you're screwing up, in fact you and Bob do a great job with the resources you're given. What I'm saying is that, if they want to promote the sport, NHRA could use the downtime for something educational and constructive, not the Geico clowns.
And as for my work, I'm retired, stop by anytime.
I have no problem with the "Geico clowns". As it's entertainment and the casual fan loves it,i even see diehards cheering for a shirt. And last i checked,Geico is sponsering and bringing them in,any kind of sponser brought to NHRA is cool with me.
Don't like them? Then don't cheer,sit there and look miserable.

My problem with the Geico guys is that they don't know how to fire that damn cannon.

They always miss the top rows. Wow, that was quite a laundry list. I'm actually responding to your lists, but hung the reply here to save bandwidth. No need to reprint all the items.
I don't know how many races you're able to attend, but I can tell you that I've heard every one of those topics covered during a national event, other than just a handful.
I do think you have a brilliant idea regarding the Safari; I'd like to see something on the order of introducing the players as the NFL broadcasts do.

BTW, though Alan and I are good people, we almost never agree on anything. It's just something that defines our relationship. That said, his reply containing 5 paragraphs is dead on and I totally agree.
I detested Sports Magic. The Geico people are worse. But, as Alan says, they aren't there to keep my attention.

I went back and reread your list. Of the 33 things that you mentioned only three have I ever been asked about at the track. Now I spend a considerable amount of time in the pits, as well as the winners circle every week, and will always stop and talk to a fan, I would submit that if there were a number of people that didn't understand and wanted to know these things it would come up.
I also think the people who come to the races have at least a rudimentary understanding of what they are watching. I have never been to a football game and had them explain to the fans what a first down is, or what constitutes clipping. They assume that if I bought a ticket, I understand what I'm watching and that I came to be entertained by the game. When I ask the fans how many are first timers? I speciffically ask "How many are seeing a Full Throttle Event for the first time?" I would wager that most who are have seen a drag race before.
I would also submit that if I said How many want to see a video showing how to weigh a dragster? And How many want a free t-shirt? Nobody would care what a dragster weighs.

whatever the case may be, the geico animacion is in place for the same reasons
all the other fan interactive displays are; to keep the average
uneducated (racing and otherwise) fan entertained
i've watched from the top row catwalk for 20+ years and turn around during
the nitro rounds to witness throngs of people......
- in campground / at beer garden / at displays / in pits / walking around
i mean really, why are you there?
amazing really that you can create so many sights, sounds and smells
that some people will spend their hard earned money, not even or barely see
the 'main event' and still walk away with a good feeling
a sporting event, concert or walmart......it's all the same.
some chick should dress up as 'Floe' and chase those geico boys around
with a rubber mallet.........now that i would stick around to watch

Agreed. Miss seeing her out there on the track but glad to see she has found happiness in her life. Funny how some complain about her wearing her emotions on her sleeve while others complain how boring most drivers interviews are today. Love her or hate her, like most great drivers, you noticed her and certainly would generally feel one way or the other. I think racing, all racing, not just NHRA, could use a lot more of that today.
