Pro Modified

Such a waste to send so many home........

Pro Mod is probably my favorite class of racing in the NHRA. I'm guessing that one reason is because it doesn't appear at my home race at Joliet. I have traveled to Indy (2014 & 2015) and St. Louis (2014), as well as Martin for an IHRA race (2015). Three different power options, wily and unpredictable, this is a class that is exciting as it gets. It reminds me of watching the fuel altereds the past. I so understand that the racers don't want to make their series be at every NHRA race, but I would welcome it at a few more races (Joliet, please!).
 
Pro Mod cars are bad ass. Yeah 30+ in NHRA is a lot, but across the country between NHRA, PDRL, PSCA, (and more) plus all the Outlaw series in the south/east, there are hundreds of pro mods out there. Damn fast too. 5.40's and 270+ for the outlaw cars in the 1/4.
 
they don't factor Pro Mod, any of the pros either. If it was factored it would be the quickest, but then if the pro type classes were factored the TF and FC classes as Denver would have unreal numbers.

If Pro Modified was sponsored by the big auto makers like Pro Stock was / is, it would eclipse P/S and all the big names would be running it. 6 second cars with superchargers, turbos and nitrous are all over the place now (Hot Rod's Drag Week, Street Outlaws are examples). The classes should be T/F, F/C, P/M, P/S, Nitro Bike, P/SM, the alcohol classes and then the sportsman series.

The 2 alcohol classes should be lifted to Pro status IMO, and a new class for stepping up to them should be offered....Junior Nitro! Ages allowed would be around 14 -17, running nitro (65% max) in modified lawn mower style single cylinder engines in Junior Dragsters stretched to fit the older kids. Top speeds just into the hundred teens would be a great stepping stone to TAD - TA/FC
 
I caught the Pro Mod show on Mav this weekend. What a throwback it was hearing Brett Kepner and Ted Jones. IMO those two know how to put on a good show.
