Pro Camaro 2026 (9 Viewers)

Once again, the competition is really for the entertainment dollar. I can't imagine spending a million dollars plus to race Pro Stock and then watch the people stand in line to piss rather than watch the races. The sponsors would be better off painting their signs on the ****house door.
It also doesnt help when nhra is no help in promoting ps,lack of coverage fs1,and when i was at maple grove this year after fuel ran they said get and go visit your favorite nitro teams in the pits, when ps was just coming up to run lol.

That's a good question. Much like Robert Hight and Mike Salinas, she just up and disappeared.

IMO in Salinas case, he got tired of having to gross 9 million in work to make the 2 million to spend on racing and his bank account was shrinking faster than ever. Being a self made man he couldn't accept that for 5 minutes of thrills every weekend.
As I am sure you know Hight returned to his first passion of guns.
Camarie as stated has gone IHRA MMPS.

when salinas had pep boys for a little while, i thought maybe a trend was developing, based on the success of napa w/capps, and more
would follow. nope ....... autozone, o'reilly, advance, and similar others apparently not interested in nhra. maybe 2026 might be different?

"
Advance Auto Parts has completed the shuttering of approximately 700 stores and now is planning to open at least 100 new locations through 2027, the company revealed exclusively to USA TODAY.

The company's plan to close approximately 500 corporate stores, 200 independent locations and four distribution centers, initially announced in November 2024, was completed sooner than initially anticipated and was part of "transformative actions to reposition Advance for long-term success and value creation," said president and CEO Shane O'Kelly in a news release last month.

The auto parts provider now says it will open 30 new locations in the United States in 2025 and an additional 100 or more new locations through 2027, including larger "market hub" locations."

Not interested in the NHRA or in fiscal trouble? Lots of auto parts come from China.....

only making a comparison between napa and the others. napa is doing something right, and now expanding their nhra footprint
to compete with the tool companies. all napa's competitors can not be that different, financially and industry wise. there was a time not so long ago these companies
marketed via drag racing. there was a time a little longer ago, beer companies liked nhra ...... seems to be a tool war now.
where is harbor freight? (i love harbor freight)

NAPA is owned by Genuine Parts Co. GPC is a pretty big group here and overseas

I still believe that there is more than we will ever get to know about the Height story. Hope he's doing well with that business

I still say he wasnt sick, something internal at jfr happened is my guess....
Or he may have simply grown weary of the stress of both driving and the duties of President of JFR which were likely massive. What he's doing now sounds a helluva lot less stressful to me.

But as you say, it very well could have been internal along the lines of the JF/Coil split over financial restructuring.

My feelings all along were that Robert was told that Austin was taking over his seat in that car. Only a few people know for sure though....

Somewhere between all the speculation is the truth about Robert Hight. I'm going to speculate. He's likely doing just fine.

I don't mind that he moved on, away from drag racing. But, he was a big part of NHRA Funny Car drag racing for many years, and I don't like that he just disappeared, without a nice written statement/press release type of thing - thanking the fans (us) and thanking the Forces for giving him all the various opportunities he enjoyed as a Force employee. That gave him the opportunity to presumably retire early and enjoy a very nice life. He doesn't have to go into details about why he left the sport, but a nice public Thank You from him would have been the right thing to do. If it wasn't for us fans, he would never have been able to enjoy a lucrative drag racing career. Has he issue such a Statement? If he did, I missed it.

I saw Robert and his wife Leslie in June at the California State Shoot in Kingsburg, California. I chatted with them briefly when they were weren't shooting. They were doing just fine. Both are pretty accomplished trap shooters. Their company is Shotgun Works based in Spanish Fork, Utah.
