Is anyone out there excited over next years Pro Camaro class? Remember the class that once used stock bodies. Oh how I miss the Glidden years with the Wayne County Boys and all the **** they kicked up. Not to mention Jerry Eckman who also made things very interesting. That was a class called Pro Stock.

Not excited one bit - NHRA lost control of the class when they let any engine in any body and when they did away with the body age rule. Plus NHRA doesn't care about the class or it would have for TV time.

The only significant effect as to the any-engine rule has been the addition of the Cuadra boys, which has been a positive one. Had it not been for that rule change Pro Stock would be 100 percent Camaro. And had they not implemented both of these rules the class would simply implode upon itself by 2029 since Ford has no PS engine and GM/Mopar no longer build PS-competitive cars.

I'm still surprised Factory X has been such a flop. It's a class I honestly thought could eventually displace There's your brand diversity; they use clutches and manual transmissions and they're quick, fast and exciting. To an average fan 6.8/200 ain't that much different than 6.50/210. Probably little if any cheaper to campaign than an actual Pro Stock but what competitive 200mph car is?

Factory X became a flop only because there was a lot of rules infractions in 2024 that were controversially not seriously penalized, so it lost all it's momentum; the one Dodge team quit and it just turned into a sad, sad category because of that. Felt not like a serious category.

“annual improvements” or “class performance enhancements” was part of the Pro Stock Drivers meeting with NHRA in Charlotte earlier this year.

for everyone that likes to crap on pro stock, i pose this question . . . what other NHRA category provides a combination of 'all out' racing, close racing, and a rules package that's the same for everybody. The biggest sore spot for Pro Stock, is there is only 2 power sources available and apparently anyone capable of building a competitive motor / car does not diem the class as worth it to pour a lot of recourses into

I'd like to see a blend of some of the Factory X body requirements into Pro stock. And kill off the year rule. Open it up to 4-door Mavericks if the combo works. Anything to help make it a veriety of of cars.

I agree with this completely. There is no more "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday". We have little factory support in PS anymore. So who cares if the car is a late model body style?

Aerodynamics being what they are, we'd still probably be stuck with mostly modern Camaros, but opening up the body style rules may be worth a shot to energize fan interest. But please don't make them look like Pro Mod or Top Sportsman cars.
