Did you see the pictures of the racing surface in the other thread? It's torn up pretty bad. Aviation weather report attached from the airport across the street. 1 1/2 mile visibility, light rain. Forecast has it raining into tomorrow.

Really feel for Brittany Force, Lousy way to go out on your final race
On the other hand, she won her last race!

How does the arrangement work with LA county? Can they just race whenever they want or do they need approval to move dates around?

I can't confirm it, but I've read multiple comments that the facility is not available for next weekend.

I believe at one time the dragstrip only gets so many noise days a year. They may have been up against that.

For those who say run it on Tuesday. The track needs so much preparation, it would take a full day to get it so it could be raced on safely. So now you're talking Wednesday.

With all of Californias ridiculous rules maybe it would make sense to move the Finals to Vegas in the future. Noise ordinances, trailer length problems, hazmat rules etc. Go somewhere that the NHRA is welcomed with open arms. IMHO

That may be true, but that's not the problem. The weather was really bad and with other circumstances, they are out of time to put on a safe and entertaining event.

I absolutely hate it but I get it. But boy do i hate it. So much so that I'm on board the move the Finals train. What I really hate the most are those who don't follow the sport having their pitchforks out and giving their less than 2 cents on it. Especially from other forms of motorsports who already think ignorantly of drag racing.

As Mike points out, the LA Fairplex is a multi-use facility. Don't know if they still have them but they use to host horse racing events. Nevertheless, organizations pay a premium to have they events at the Fairplex that are sometimes scheduled years in advance. And there is primarily one massive parking lot to be used.

Next month Mooneyes will have their Christmas party/car show/drag race. That has always been a sold-out event at Irwindale, so you can imagine the cost increase and financial risk they're taking to move it to the Fairplex.

It just sucks when the final event of the season gets cancelled with no chance to determine the champions. I can’t think of any other sport where this would happen. Usually the weather cooperates but it didn’t this year. I don’t like that they schedule the final event at a location where there isn’t a true back up plan. This is only time I can remember this happening so it is what it is. Congrats to all the champions. At least most of the Lucas Oil classes got their race in. Those are the ones that usually get screwed in this situation. NHRA did the right thing.

Spenser, thats comical because the finals have much better weather than the Winternationals.

The Fairplex is a very busy place and you cant just decide to change weekends..

I'm saying move the event from the Fairplex all together. Unpopular, yes. But this just has me completely bummed out.
