Pomona broadcast has started

So far the broadcast doesnt seem that different from last year.

They need to have "winner" or highlight on the times at the end of the run. I saw winner pop up a time or two but other than that you didn't know at a quick glance who won.

I now remember why I record and watch these "live races" later, this hour long down time between semi's and finals are rough. About to give up and flip to something else and come back later.

The red/green light at the start has no use.

I do like how they show they blue stage lights better.

I like them giving a plug to racing you daily driver

Other than that not much difference from ESPN (which isn't bad)

Biggest bonus, race actually started on time.

Where is the sportsman racing? They could at least showed the finals live. I was looking at them in the background and had my phone on live timing to see the results(or see which side crew members would be jumping up and down). Would have been a nice story line about Dan Fletcher going for the double as he closes in on 100 wins.

Agree winner marker needs to come on more than once a race
Live show was supposed to show pit action leading up to final. Didn't see much.
But one thing i liked was awards interviews. Bruno and jamie did well and tony and dave wrapping it up. Good stuff

I would have loved to some sportsman action, although trying to explain throttle stops to new fans is rough, but at least show the rest.

I liked the winners circle awards interviews as well. Although if you get a first time winner, I want to see that reaction as soon as they hop out of the car.

They definitely weren't as loose as they were with the ESPN crew. Maybe the directors will work on that. Also the "live" icon in the corner made you think all four rounds were live if you weren't paying attention, but Vincent's crash and cleanup made it evident it wasn't live. Also would have been good to interview Vincent and find out what really happened. It acted like it got oil under the tires. I do agree the winner banners need to be over the drivers' names. If the ones who watch it all the time can't figure out who won how will the casual fan know. Also one last critique would be put the reaction times back up. I think they'll get everything straight by the end of the season.

Ok, it's a starting point. I hope the broadcast gets better. Definitely needs win light banners. Those graphics need to be much bigger. Can't hardly read the et or mph. And I wish they wouldn't rush thru the event.

A little rough, but am glad we have something. It started on time. Glad the starting line hand held camera is back. Loved the winner's circle ceremony. Loved the guest in the booth (Larry Dixon).

I tried watching both on tv and the website webcast. Both successful. Would love the web one to start at 11am and just stay live the whole time.

Understandable rough 1st production. Fair/decent job, Fox NHRA. Looking forward to better and more enjoyable work in the future. Overall, am pleased. Will be here to support it.

Overall for first show it was good. In any kind of racing they should show prayer and anthem before start, they blew that. I like what they were doing with down time needs polishing and showing ,interviews of winners was good at end of race. It should get better with each race. Like i have said before not a fanTony P. but will give it time. Bruno, Jamie, and John did fine. I give it score B

I agree Jesse. Plenty of technical glitches. But these things take some time. Not like you can practice without the actual conditions.

All sporting event broadcasts start with the anthem. And it is even cooler with a pair coming out of the water as the song is ending. Need to fix that !!

Agree with most of the previous points. One other one, move the RT numbers closer in to the names. Until you see the first and try to look at the other (since they are spread out so far) it's off the screen. Looking for improvements over the next few weeks but I still missed Dunn.

Just said my piece about this in the lounge section.....

I saw a lot of things I liked in the broadcast. Yes, Tony P was tight and appeared nervous, and his style is different than Dunn's, but overall I thought he did a creditable job. I thought the pit reporting was really good. Glad to see Jamie Howe back--she does such a good, understated job. I thought the graphics needed some work, as sometimes they didn't stay on long enough to read both sides, and occasionally the "Winner" banner didn't come up (or at least I didn't see it). I thought they did a really good job between rounds with interesting, and dare I say somewhat unique pieces from the pits and elsewhere. The thing that I saw as a big departure from the ESPN broadcast was the coverage of the trophy presentations at the end with an interview with the winners. Other racing events always finish up with trophy presentations, and I thought this gave a more "big time" feel to our event, even thought I do realize it might not happen each time if we are running long.

Also, as I was sitting through the NASCAR Unlimited crash-fest, I noticed how many spots for the Winters were being run by Fox. Lots of them, and the fact that I was watching the NASCAR event lends credence to although I am a Drag Racer, I'm also a motorsports fan. My guess is the ads might have been enough to pique a bit of interest in the NASCAR faithful and who knows? Maybe a few of them tuned in.

Overall, I see the Fox change to be a good one. The network itself seems much more interested in us than ESPN ever did. Yeah, there's some things that can be done better and tightened up here and there, but I'm pleased with the first attempt, and looking forward to the rest of the season.

Can someone explain to Tony Pedregon that Super Comp and Comp Eliminator are not the same category and require different technology and preparation? Maybe Bruno Massel can educate him before Phoenix...

The staging cameramen have to learn to stay out of the way of the crew. Looked like one of them in the TF semis got moved. He was zooming up on the wing then all you saw for a millisecond was sky, then another angle. Time will tell, Tony P looked shellshocked the whole show. Great side-by-side finals though. maybe fill the open spaces with the Top Fuel Twins that were there, as well as rest of the classes.

went to local establishment to watch broadcast.
- first thing i thought i noticed was the engine sound was better than espn.....and that's a big deal......nice job.
- i like the advertisements superimposed on the track and finish line....they'll figure out the 'grainy' finish line photo i hope.
- thought tony p. did just fine for first show
- did that entire race really begin and end in 2.5 hours?......the tv said 'live', but are we sure the first rounds were not taped?
