Mike; almost the other way around.
F/C is 125%, dragster has a factor (I can't remember #) but a 451 is 84%, a 484 about 92%.
Also dragster can have a 40" overhang.
It all seems to work out well for them.
AND......... they were smart enough to never dangle the carrot by printing in their rulebook that there will be NO nitro, blowers on alky only!
I had a chat with my friend, they run 86% OD as they run 471 cubes on their TAD. The bigger the engine the more OD you are allowed to run due to having more weight. Another competitor runs 511 cubes and his OD is at 104%. One of my friends in the FC group runs to US TAFC rules, and runs at 92% OD.
I spoke with Gary in regards to the OD he ran on that pass. He currently isn't running the maximum overdrive and that they are still a couple of steps in the pullies away from it (because the belt life is better) Gary's car also weighs in at 2330. The minimum weight allowed is 2250.
The formula for dragster overdrives is (0.00400 x Cubic Inches). The weight limits for dragsters is 4.4 lbs per cubic inch.
