Looks like the recent changes are working out well !!!!, I really thought forcing them to turn the car around in the pits and the Decal requirement would result in a flood of new participants :rolleyes:

At what point will the racers (of all economic status') TELL the NHRA that the rules have to be changed to make the drag racing affordable? This applies to all classes. I'm all for new technology and new ways of the making cars faster but there comes a point when only a couple people can afford it. Who wants to pay good money to see 5-6 P/S cars race at a national event? That's what it's coming to. At what point will sponsors tell car owners that their operation is too expensive for their ROI?

Try this NHRA. Have a nostalgia P/S class at a national event. Even though they may run in the 160-170 MPH (?) range, I'd bet money they would be more popular with the fans than the current P/S class.

That's ridiculous, that group is not even close to being something one could present in that area.

For the first trial year in P/S, mountain motor vs nitrous assisted current 500ci EFI motors. The NHRA will know how to make them even (plenty of practice throwing weight on the Harleys)

Only 3 PS cars i can think of that actually have true sponsor ship money the rest are using there own so ROI was out the window a long time ago for this class. And how would not making any changes helped a class already on life support? Decals and turning the cars around to create more participation......where do you come of with this stuff? Please keep the nostalgia cars at the nostalgia events unless they are running as exhibition. NHRA already has a class with 60's and 70's era cars called Super Gas.

I recently watched a video from a late 80's IHRA pro Stock race where the field was made up of NHRA 500ci cars and mountain motored cars 300lbs heavier. from what I noticed they seem to run fairly close to each other and since the current NHRA field is depleted and the mountain motored guys have no place to race than why not...

Shane Tucker will be back around Epping thru to the end of the season.
Did switching to EFI really lower the costs though?
How do IHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stockers stack up cost-wise compared to NHRA P/S?
I guess NHRA have already tried a more affordable version of Pro Stock, called Pro Stock Truck (and we know how that panned out).

I always felt that efi should have been a gradual transition. I never thought that they should just dump the carbs right away. Making it a gradual change would have allowed those unable to change right away still be able to race.

I think whats happening to P/S is just what was in NHRA play book. Now before you start shooting bullets at me think about it. In 2 years we have 3 P/S cars with solid sponsers. Its pretty obvious whats happened.

I have ND's from mid 80's to mid 2000 and I see about half the PS fields with solid full time sponsorship so not that much has changed there. The cost is what hurt the class as most of the cars trying to qualify were independents. If sponsor and fan interest are not there for 500cid why would mountain motors make a difference?

Boy I have to say if NHRA approached me to race our car at a national event, I couldn't slam the phone down fast enough. Any nostalgia car would be classified as an exhibition car an get put as the low man on the totem poll below the sportsman races. No way I would pay them money for entry to be jerked around.

It's bad enough that it happens to us at the March Meet and CHRR and we're one of the fastest index classes. I'm sure many of the guys in the Mid-West feel the same way with their Nostalgia Pro Stock Cars. Of course, I could be wrong.(?)

Time to make Pro Mod a class much better show than Pro Stock.
With only 9 full time entries it's time to make the move.
It's already well know that the manufacturers don't care about the class so quit kicking the can down the road!

My opinion is they should split the season between them except run both at Indy and finals. They should also do away with the rule of only one entry in the pro class. Why wouldn't you want that? I think it would be cool to see a double up in a pro class.

We should ask why manufacturers aren't interested and adjust accordingly. Win on Sunday sell on Monday is what Pro Stock was born to be.
