Joe, it is a measured mile, not really drag racing where two cars are side by side. Five times a year, scores of racecar and motorcycle racers gather at the Laurinburg-Maxton airfield just outside Maxton, North Carolina for the Maxton Mile race track for the East Coast Timing Association events. There are other one-mile courses in the US, but not for side-by-side drag racing. Unfortunately the Mojave Mile is on the same weekend as the March Meet in 2010.

The longest drag races that I remember were the 1/2 mile drags at dearly missed Riverside Raceway in SoCal.
