<P>ENNIS, Texas – After a disappointing DNQ at last weekend’s Bakersfield, Calif., Division 7 event, Sean O’Bannon and the Tequila Patrón/Forest River RV’s backed NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car team hope to bounce back at this weekend’s O’Reilly Super Start Batteries Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex just south of Dallas. O’Bannon has made two national event finals this year, and hopes to find that elusive first win in Funny Car this weekend.

O’Bannon, 29, of Ontario, Calif., cites Bakersfield was one of ‘those’ weekends and looks forward to putting that event behind them.

“The weekend started out so great,” said O’Bannon. “We made some good runs in testing Thursday, and then it went downhill from there. I’m not making any excuses, but I broke out in some sort of rash Thursday night and had to go to the hospital to get some medicines. Long story short, every run we had something happen and ultimately we didn’t qualify. We’re looking forward to putting it behind us this weekend.

“We know we have a good racecar,” O’Bannon continued. “It looks like we’ll have some nice weather, and the Texas Motorplex has always been known for big numbers. My Crew Chief Sam Shockley and the guys have been making some serious horsepower, so it should be fun this weekend.”

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with two sessions, followed by one final session Saturday morning. Eliminations begin with round one on Saturday afternoon and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.

Simply Perfect in every way, Patrón is the world’s No. 1 selling ultra-premium tequila.
