<p> 7-9-08 Edmonton, Al, CA. – Mike Janis' Up and Down season continued this past weekend at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. For many teams being in the top five in points and within striking distance of the points leader would be great at the midway point of the season, but Mike Janis and his team expect better from themselves.

"We're still in a good spot compared to last year. At this time last season we were 200 points out and we didn't have any bonus points in the bank so, yes the trip was worth it but we need to get better," said Crew Chief Mike Janis Jr.

With qualifying shortened to two and a half sessions Janis was only afforded two attempts before the field was set. Luckily Janis' 6.173 at 232.19 from his second attempt held through out the rain soaked qualifying for the number one spot.

Janis' joy of grabbing the number one spot was short lived, as he was defeated in round one by Jason Stock and his Head Hunter '63 Corvette. Stock, the number nine qualifier, took a huge hole shot advantage and was able to hold off the hard charging Janis for the win.

"This seems to be a reoccurring thing with us," said Janis. "Small things keep coming up to bite us. You name the 50-cent part and it's cost us this year. We know we have a quality car and engine program, second to none. I know that when we get past this rough spot we'll be tough to beat."

Up next for Mike Janis Racing will be the MOPAR Canadian Nationals in Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada beginning on July 18th and running through the 20th.
