From Jay Turner Racing:

Well we had an adventure today to say the least! The trailer broke loose from the coach at the tongue side of the ball when we were about 20 miles from the shop. Good news is everyone is okay, no one was hurt and the bikes are alright, bad news is we will not be making Pomona. With that being said, we decided that since we can only be this lucky once, we need to count our blessings, get things fixed and focus on Phoenix.

Not sure I would want to be identified as the welder on that trailer. We converted our stacker to a mini 5th wheel after seeing a couple of those .... king pin is a monster, but yes I've got friends who've had their mini 5th hitch welds break too. The whole trailer tongue and tow vehicle rear end is something it pays to carefully watch. We added almost 700 lbs of boxed steel to our rig after we figured out how much it was flexing in response to over 4,000 lbs of tongue weight jerking around on it.

Thank God nobody on the highway was hurt. Tough was to start the race season.

Seeing more of this lately. Hopefully it’s a design adjustment the manufacturers can make.
