Why do you say this? I would've thought just the fuel cost.
When I crewed going from TF to BBFC in the 70's I was amazed at the lack of between rounds maintenance needed in BBFC.
Then I got back into TAFC in the late 90's and realized it was dam near like fuel racing. The body, Heads and pan coming off between every round. LOL

Well a new screw blower is 3-4 times more expensive than a good roots. Sure fuel is obviously more but everything else is very similar. Rear end, tires, clutch disks, safety equipment, computer, ect. Most of my used parts come from TAFC teams.
They're not; 4.80 is a 1000' time. The better ones run similar 1320 times to Top Alcohol FCs, 5.50-5.60 or so at around 260mph. No way they're gonna run 4.80 quarter mile times with 21gpm pumps and 6-71 blowers.
Having run both it’s somewhat close in cost. Screw blower about 20K+ if you can get one. A kick ass roots about half that. Big problem with the nfc is it’s pretty hard to keep it happy the last 3-400 feet with a 21 gallon pump. They love pistons

Oh yeah, that Beech City Chevrolet re-pop is awesome. Good to see it back doing some exhibition runs. Agree that this is along the lines of what Nostalgia FC should REALLY look like.
The first handful of pics at this link are of Nostalgia funny cars at the Winternationals in 2010. They looked like FCs from the late '60s and early '70s. Nowadays a couple still look like that, but most have, unfortunately, evolved. The link: https://public.fotki.com/beldarc99/pomona-2010/

Yeah the 1969 Camaro body used by most of the top teams today looks very little like the 1969 body funny car originally used. They should have never allowed them to make them look like a pro mod.
