It's a long watch but essentially owner Bader is tired of watching his business die and not getting help or guidance from government.

Last week he said it would take at least 4 weeks to get the place race ready so I don't see them starting till end of May or start of June, they will announce when next week. Perhaps by then it won't be as risky of a decision as it appears now.

Gonna be interesting to see if the state authorities step in or if they can satisfy social distancing guidelines on normal race weekends (not sure that can happen with the big crowd events)

Boo-bleping-hoo. The Bader's are miilionaires. :D

I have bad news for Bill. He can open, but who would go? I am not heading anywhere in the general public until a vaccine is available. No vacations, no golf trips, no planes, no people. My US Nationals tickets are officially for sale. Cheap.

When people use phrases like "mainstream media" in combination with a conspiracy theory, I stop listening as I've heard what I need to hear.

It's just another case of someone in one industry who thinks they know more than educated and decorated people in their respective fields.

It sounds like they bit off more than they could chew by borrowing for all of the upgrades combined with no cash reserves (per BB). It's sad but I don't think the answer lies in "it's the mainstream media's fault for creating this conspiracy".

People can say all they want about how bad of a move this is, but I got news for ya...…..look for more of it. MUCH more of it. People are starting to realize what this is and there will be plenty of them that simply won't stand too much longer and watch their lives work go down the drain at the hands of an entity mandating they shut down, yet won't offer assistance.

Kudos to you, Mr. Bader and I hope many more follow in your footsteps!

I guess we'll see about that as time goes on.

They had a "protest" here in NC at the capital to open businesses. Interviewing the leaders revealed that [insert shocked face here] the virus is a conspiracy and nobody is sick from it.

Look, conspiracies and businesses who overextended themselves shouldn't be the basis for business to open. There should be a round-table discussion and a plan on how to do this smartly and "I borrowed money to upgrade my facility" really has no bearing on the discussion as a whole. If BB has scientific evidence that opening is a benefit to society, then by all means let's hear it. I don't believe that restrictions in New York City should be the same as restrictions in Norwalk, but I haven't seen an intelligent argument on why Norwalk should have special treatment.

The Bader's are millionaires. :(

Yeah, I tune out the moment I hear any politically-motivated buzzword/phrase. You just know it's not going to be followed by anything of substance. I haven't had a chance to watch BB's video yet, but if that's the direction he went, it's quite disappointing. Drag racing is in a unique position in that we can gather in fairly large numbers while still maintaining physical distance from each other. If anything is in a position to begin easing us back into a state of normal functioning, it's this (from a participant perspective, that is. Obviously, spectator-geared events still won't be happening anytime soon). I'm not opposed to tracks opening (I'm absolutely itching to get back behind the wheel), but those that do should be promoting a message of cautious gathering, not resorting to lowest common denominator conspiracy-pandering.

After spending April-May last year in the hospital, my goal this year was to stay out of one.....who could have imagined that all this crap would occur exactly one year to the day....

BTW it's still my goal

cnn reported last nite that calif has cancelled all sporting events untill 2021 .. i think more states will follow .. we shall see ..
They may have reported that but it is not true. Newsom and the LA Mayor have speculated that but there has been no cancelation.

here's one of the issues...they can't open without EMT's for insurance regulations. If they subcontract them, they may not be available.

It was discussed on an Akron talk radio show this afternoon. And I saw a Toledo TV station running with the story.
Now possibility of may opening date might happen, but I don't see it starting any sooner.
