Northwest Nationals cancelled (1 Viewer)

In my OPINION, every race on the schedule from Brainerd (Aug 14-16) until the end of the season will run as scheduled, with the possible exception of Heartland Park. Why? The NFL. Every race except Heartland Park occurs in a state that has a NFL team. NOTHING is going to stop fans at NFL games. If they allow fans at NFL games, and my OPINION is they will, then there will be fans at other gatherings, like drag races. There may be restricted numbers of fans and social distancing protocols, but there will be racing and there will be fans in my OPINION.

what is the true infection rate. If 10,000 people die out of 100,000 infections, that means the virus kills 10 percent of all the people it infects – making it very dangerous. But if 10,000 people die from 10 million infections, the death rate is actually 0.1 percent .... similar to the flu. if we are now testing at a much higher capacity, then there is a high probability that we will definitley see a spike in confirmed positive tests. science vs. politics.

I agree, we are testing a lot more, so a lot more people are testing positive. Where I live, we had 800 new cases last week (the biggest jump since April), but we only had 37 hospitalizations.

You may be right to an extent. However, I think the NFL will at least start the season without fans. As an example, the 49ers open the season at home September 13 against Arizona. There is no way a game is going to be played in Santa Clara County with fans on September 13. Without fans, maybe. NFL can afford to play without fans due to huge TV contract. Unfortunately a lot of people, especially younger ones, are acting irresponsibly at bars, parties, etc. causing cases and hospitalizations to go up, even though the death rate is going down. To me, cases is not the important number-hospitalizations and deaths are the numbers that are critical.

While it is a meaningless preseason game, they did just cancel the Hall of Fame game.

I see at the NASCAR race in NH they will allow fans, I wonder if they can fit Epping in the schedule now?

My friend goes to Loudon every year and said this about the upcoming race: 35% capacity, no cash, no camping, no coolers, clear plastic bags only. No trams from the parking lot to the raceway.

I don't see how NHRA could operate on 35% gate. Maybe they could but I would assume it would be an overall money losing venture. I think at this point, and who knows I could be way wrong, the only tracks that will get action are NHRA owned tracks, in states that are not having an issue. Maybe NHRA will get creative and go to some 1/8th mile racing outside the confines of a "championship".

My two cents are if NHRA ever wanted to shake things up and test out some ideas, this is the year to do it. I can't see anyone complaining about points implications.

Right on. There are over 30 states seeing huge spikes in cases. Even states like Texas, Florida, Nevada, Arizona are starting to put more restrictions on. The Wynn Casinos are considering reducing further the amount of people allowed inside at one time. NHRA can operate at 35% or even no gate but I don't think the rest of the tracks can do it without full capacity.. It will be interesting to see what Bruton Smith does. Los Angeles County, where the Pomona Fairplex is, has the highest number of new cases and hospitalizations in the country. They have been checking business' to see if they are complying with the County requirements and will start next week going back to those that were out of compliance and are still out of compliance and revoking their business licenses.
As far as football there will be no spectators at games played in Washington, California and numerous other states, but football and baseball and basketball make money without spectators, they just don't make as much.

viruses have a life. they weaken. they die out. this one should be on it's way out for good by july/august.......but wait, it's an election year  seriously cross your fingers for
nhra national events happening. if certain states are run by certain political folk, and they have the option to shut down an upcoming nat. event, the odds are good that they will; and it has
little or nothing to do with the virus, they are following a narrative to stifle business......i thought we were past this, but as soon as the BLM stuff ran it's course, the main stream has
piled on with the virus as if it had just started, who are again following a prescribed narrative.......don't want to sound political, but this ch*t is as political as it gets

You are comparing flu numbers for a year to virus numbers for maybe 4 months gotta love your math. Lets check stats on the virus after a year and see what the numbers are. I will bet you a six pack the numbers will be more than triple the flu. You do know the rest of the world is gong through the same thing so its really not political.

Both Texas and Florida told bars to stop selling ahoall immediately and it's all because both states are now seeing that they have a much larger problem then they thought.

Back just a short time ago when the governors opened Florida, Texas and a few other states I remember thinking either they are going to look like heroes or the zeros and in a short time we had the correct answer.
They opened to soon and now the rest of us have to pay the price for them being incompetent leaders.
If you are going to make an error always try and beyond the right side of history because your career depends on it.

The Pocono Nascar races are on this weekend....looks real weird with no fans in the stands. But there's bad thunderstorms predicted so at least they won't lose anyone to lightning strikes

Also, the garages were guaranteed to be noose-free.........

Houston ICU rooms at 100% capacity.... It IS getting worse in some places. In Washington State the new cases are largely in rural counties with a large agricultural worker population. Here on the West side where it all started we are doing OK even though testing is way up. I am just wishing it was over. It is not.

I never miss a NASCAR race and I'm actually use to the no fans in the stands now.

That's a lie! People are that die are being classified with cV19 that never had it. My neighbor who is a doctor showed me a 14 page document instructing doctors to sign death certificates to list the death as COVID 19 if possible no matter what they died of. So the figures we are seeing on the news are damn lies! The whole CV19 is a scam! This is not my opinion, I saw the document. We are being lied to, as usual!

When we moved to PA years ago my parents signed up with an employment agency to get some work. Being less than 1/2 hour away, the Pocono track would call every year and offer temporary jobs in concessions or as parking attendants or ticket takers, but by then they decided they were ready to retire.

There haven't been any calls this year....I wonder why 🤔 😉

Many years ago, I had a friend that did volunteer parking at Pocono, My perk was I got free in field camping. Talk about a zoo? There was a guy that had an R.V. that we stood on to see the race. Got to see a small fraction of the race when they went by. Tunnel turn. just after the 2nd turn. The ideas that these people come up with in the infield was crazy! at one site in the evening, they had a table set up and were playing strip poker! I don't think Brainard could compare to that except, well using a jet car to light wood palettes.

Sometimes it's not what you say, it's how you say it. IE the news media may report: "Today 100 people died that HAD the Covid 19" instead of "Today 100 people died FROM the Covid 19". See the difference?
The play on words here are, that person may have the virus when they died, but died from something else. And it's possible the coroner was told to list the cause of death was from the virus.
I don't mean to get on a soap box sermon here, but this is the way the media creates FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt). I just don't know who to believe anymore.

YEP. THE ENTIRE WORLD IS OUT TO GET DONALD TRUMP AND MAKE HIM LOOK INEPT. I KNEW IT!!!! Don't believe the entire world or the people getting sick! It's all a conspiracy by the MaIN StReAm MeDiA!!!!!!

Come on. Not sure what kind of "doctor" you live near, but the doctor friends I have would never affix their signature to an untruthful document. Their entire career is predicated on ethics and can be stripped away by doing something unethical.

Who provided the "doctor" that notice? You don't find it at all odd that someone would put a conspiracy IN WRITING and furthermore this "doctor" you know shows some random neighbor? None of this strikes you as odd? Cute story though.

Let's be realistic here, and I don't care what political persuasion anyone on this thread is, just use your dang brains people. Assume this "14 page document" was printed (how else would you see a copy) and distributed to all of the doctors, you don't think that at least ONE SINGLE doctor who received this "document" would disagree with it and "leak" it to the media? Surely you can't be serious.

just look up Dr. Jensen from MN. he spoke out about reporting deaths back in april i think? ......ethics aside, if the hospital is making extra money based on a directive,
and their own doctor/s challenges it; wouldn't the doctor's livelyhood possibly be at risk?
