Keep in mind most of them are niche companies that provide parts to the racers and are small shops with few employees just trying to earn a living. Attempting to suck the life out of them like they are Microsoft was ridiculous. Many of the smaller companies made back door deals with the racers running their products and decals by offering credit toward future purchases outside of the sanctioning body if you won.

Obviously the thinking is changing with the new guard. Manufacturers midway in it's heyday was a great place to spend some time and I think adds more interest in the sport as fans and potential racers were able to communicate directly with manufacturer reps and dealers. Someone somewhere decided it was a cash cow and ruined it.

I worked with Mac Tools and did the Midway from 90 to 93 and it was excellent for my customers , we had ability to sell tickets and hospitality, we almost filled one section in GA at Heartland Park sold out all 3 years and then NHRA killed it

Yes. The Likelihood of a zip-tied ignition box falling off of a pegboard display and killing someone is too great not to indemnify everyone.

Larry that's not the reason the NHRA as the liability policy.
It's because every company that has their decal on the side a car runs the risk of getting sued if the driver is in a bad accident or loses their life.
This has been their policy unless something as changed recently.

Jim, we have to supply this at the Super Chevy Shows and mine was covered through my insurance I already had. Vendors can also buy a policy through an outside source. If memory serves me correctly, it was about $180 per event.

I was a pro stock motorcycle sponsor for years. We were not allowed midway space in our program. We had to pay out a minimum of $1250 per year. If we paid out less, we has to give the difference to NHRA at the end of the season. As Dave Schultz, John Meyers, and Angelle all carried my sticker, I never had to pay NHRA anything. That minimum was a great thing. That kept people out who had a product that no one used and wouldn't have to pay out, from getting a free ride all season.
I might add that we got 3 event passes for every event that ran PSB. We gave those away as rewards to customers for dealing with us.
We only quit when it became an all Harley® thing and we would have had to pay NHRA at the end of the season.
