Slow day at work today so I thought I'd post this knowing that some of you would appreciate it. Should also be 4 N/FC, a couple of AA/FA, and wouldn't be surprise to see Rick White show up with his N/TF too.

Before you ask, I think their only running the F/C to the 330 mark. But go here for more info: http://www.baronadrags.com/

Yes San Diego is more than a city it is it's own county too. And a fairly good size one at that. The track is on the Barona Indian Reservation (has a casino down the road) in the mountains northeast of the city. It takes a bit of driving to get there but it is a pleasant drive.

If you do plan on going, I suggest booking a room at the casino as it is a long drive out of the mountains on the way home.

This deal could actually be a great deal for smaller venues, where it is all about the show, and less concern about "the race". 80% of the show happenes on the starting line and the first 330. Also the cars aren't killing stuff, so their expense is much lower. Meaning tracks could afford it. Nothing more that a burnout and a hit. Great show. May have found a way to bring back nitro to the masses once again. Great job Del

Good luck to my friends Brandon Welch & Paul Lee. Stopped in the Auto Anything Team shop while I was in SD a few weeks ago. Good to see them getting ready to run some events this season!

At first I was turned off by the 330' thing, but being familiar with Barona the track is only 1/8th mile with a relatively short shutdown for a nitro car. Discretion being the better part of valor makes the 330 foot blast much more likely to produce good runs, as full-track setups usually end up with tire smoke - or concerns about the shutdown. So it will be cool....Burnouts, nitro fumes, flames and thunder. What's not to like?

BTW, Gino is right about San Diego County being good size - it's almost as many square miles as the state of Connecticut!

Mark, it does sound like fun! I can't help but comment on the irony between your excitement about this 330' event and the 1/4 MILE comment on your avatar image! ;)

Fair point... I don't consider this a competitive race. Just nitro fueled entertainment! If you listen to Del's interview he has said as much, and promises whomps in the pits, big burnouts, and a laid back, fun atmosphere at a small track!!!

Hey, old school match racing at its finest, there should be more of these meets around the country. Nitro Jam comes to mind.
