Well, after that scare of tons of pop ups telling me to download this 'free scan'...

Wow, I got that one last night while cleanig my photobucket account.
It was right after I was at nhra dot com and here at NM.
Never had anything like it on this PC.

If you try to close the box or choose "cancel" it only makes it worse, they bombard with more.
My adaware free version can't seem to clean them.

Hmmm...That's about what I did, because I screen captured that threat, then went to photobucket, uploaded it, and then came here and posted the picture of the screen capture on the thread. Then the pop ups started reallly coming up.

I would suggest using Firefox.

The exploit is specific to Internet Exploder.

Good advice, David--I just cringe when I have to open up Internet Explorer to upload graphics files to vendors' ftp sites that won't function on firefox. And I always let them know that it would be nice for them to make the simple mods to their ftp site to allow it to run on firefox. And to all, if you haven't tried firefox, it's a free download and it is so much better, quicker, and more dependable than the exploder--give it a try! I use FireFox every day but I still prefer Maxthon better. (Maxthon Browser - Full-Featured Browser) I run Maxthon on my main monitor and FireFox on my 2nd. There's some things I still don't feel FireFox does well enough.

The ONLY thing I ever use Exploder for is for XP update downloads, as they obviously will not work with Firefox. Although it's not perfect, FF is still tons better and more reliable than Microsquish Exploder.

Excellent suggestion. Perhaps the best thing about Firefox is that it automatically does spell checking -- something that more than a couple of people I know could really use

I love firefox..As you can tell by my avatar, But I am starting to really like the Safari web browser for pc...It seems twice as fast as firefox...

It uses the IE engine but does not have the IE security problems. Secunia.com has shown for a long time that Maxthon is far more secure than FireFox. By the way, I still use the "classic" version of Maxthon, version 1.6.3 build 80 unicode. I also have version 2 installed but I still like some things better on the "old" version.
