Smart move with the California real estate market booming its a good time to sell and keep in mind that a lot of the staff are working from home these days and could continue even with the offices in Indy.

I retired at the right time. I sure don't want to drive to Indiana to get my hard card. :D

I believe the main reason some of the NHRA staff are staying in California is because of the enormity of moving the publishing arm with all the computers and archives needed to produce ads, ND and graphics for their website. Indy is a better location for the Safety Safari to work out of plus it has good interstate access. As far as moving the museum is concerned can you just imagine what that would cost?

Oh yes, I remember that! Well, movie it to Phoenix. We got lotsa space for museums. No quakes, just heat.

Yep, remember the Sinkhole at the Bowling Green Corvette Museum?
Stay away from Florida, we have sinkholes also. I remember one in downtown Winter Park, FL several years ago that swallowed several expensive Porches.

I would like to at least see a second museum open up in Indy. I realize there are plenty of reasons not to but I’m thinking selfishly. I’m sure they are lucky if they are break even ventures long term.

It sure does not take the re-posters long to post this news. Saw this early this morning down here in the South and within minutes the re-post race was on.

I do think this is a good move as doing corporate business in my former home state blows.

Cliff I am filled with chagrin that you were not first with this re-post, you must take back your right full place as the king.

Well, one good reason to move the museum is earthquakes. Would hate to see the loss if "the big one" hits SoCal.
The chance of a earthquake in either Glendora or the Museum that would do much damage is extremely low. The so called big one is exagerated. As much as some people wish California is going to have the big one and fall into the ocean is a myth.

I have an excuse. I normally get up around 5;15 AM but slept in today cuz have been feeling crummy (sinus infection - get 'em every year). So by the time I was ready to re-post, it was too late. Was so bummed that had to drink coffee & eat a chocolate bar. And that's the truth..... :)

By the way, I think people are so frustrated w/ grusome and all them, that they rejoice NHRA is moving (at least partially) to Indy.

Yeah, but it sounds good. I remember hearing that since I was a little kid. When I moved to Phoenix, the story was that when Calif had the Big One, Phx would be beach front property. Heh

I think this is more dire and that there is much more to this than anyone has discussed yet. I speculate the NHRA is out of money, and this is a quick way to raise a few million to keep the sanctioning body afloat until the end of the year. Likely they are selling Atlanta for the same reason. But why can't the NHRA get in on the Government gravy train and get a huge bail-out like everyone else?

Mark: Is a re-poster the same as a re-gifter?

I have to agree with you. Attendance is down and will continue to be down, they are getting less money with Camping World than with Mello Yello and so are the PRO racers. If you look at their tax filing attendance makes up most of their revenue and even with the COVID coming to an end the attendance is not going to fill the stands. Prior to COVID they had very few sell outs and now with reduced PRO qualifying sessions the crowd will stay down.

How many tracks does NHRA own? I'm thinking that it might not be a bad idea to get rid of those tracks & expense that goes with running a track, with the exception of the Indy track. That place is big enough where you could put NHRA HQ on the property; maybe even a museum. Also like the idea that Indy is the racing capitol of USA, & lotsa Pro teams have shops in the area. Middle of the country, so to speak, so good location for touring. I sometimes think NHRA stayed in SoCal for so long, cuz it's the "birthplace of drag racing". Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Also, I do kinda think re-posting is kinda, sorta like re-gifting. I do belong to NRPAOA, National Re-Posters Ass'n of America. No fees or dues. Rumor has it that it was started by Mark Hendon in a time of extreme boredom.....
