It's more than just about results. Media attention and fan response factors in as well."The golden girl had this won the minute she made a pass at the Gators."
"No, she had it won in Gainesville."
Which makes me one of two things - confused, or asleep.
Myself, I'm a big Maddi fan but I'm giving this one to Will Smith.
100%I think Will is eligible, I could be wrong but he has less than 10 races spread across 3 seasons before this year. Cody Anderson would also be a candidate, but I think Maddi is the favorite.
It is not based strictly on points or wins It is a vote by media and industry insiders. The criteria has to do with on track performance as well as off track activities that promote/benefit the sport. And Maddi has done so much out of the car, attending different events, all the social media, pod casts, and promotional events etc. away from Drag Racing.
That's why I think Maddi has the advantage.

3.815I don't remember did she make a full pass
My question is did they give her the normal time for the turn around or did they shorten it because of TVThat would never happen. NHRA rules under these circumstances completely dismiss the run and require a re-run.
They let them service the car like normal. The first run was at 11:54am, and the re-run was at 1:23pm.My question is did they give her the normal time for the turn around or did they shorten it because of TV
yes it was on in full on the late broadcast. They jumped around more than usual and only showed portions of PS and PSB until semis. One thing about a two hour show is they don't have much time for all the fluff.ken, i was watching at location where i did not have channel control. good question, i'm not sure if they did or not?
but if they did wouldn't that ruin the show for the 4-6pm est show?, which i believe most of the country was scheduled to see?
anyone watch the later broadcast? and if so, did you see the finals?
Plus running down the front of the stands at Rockingham trying to get the "wave" going. lolI think Will is eligible, I could be wrong but he has less than 10 races spread across 3 seasons before this year. Cody Anderson would also be a candidate, but I think Maddi is the favorite.

Edit: Billy treed me.....
I don’t disagree with that at all. As a spectator at the race, they seemed to lose the fans at that point. I’ll say 50% of the spectators are there for nitro and nitro only. Had to wait an hour for Salinas to return. Had to wait another hour for Ashley to return for the semi’s. By the time the semi finals ran, a lot of fans had left the stands to not return. Ashley ran a 3.76 the second time and Salinas ran a 3.81. Ashley could have ran it 4 minutes after the tree malfunctioned, and saves an hour plus of downtime. No, I don’t want to see single runs and let them figure it out on paper. In the rare case of a tree malfunction in eliminations, there are other potential options that could be considered. Obviously strategy changes if Salinas had to pedal it or shut it off at 300 feet. That would change the way Ashley would approach the run as a driver knowing he doesn’t need a fast time to advance.Racing isnt done on paper, rerun was the right choice
And after all the drama they smoked the tires at the hit. You could tell by her body language how upset she was. From what I'm reading, the first run between her and Ashley was completely invalidated as if it never happened. If Ashley (or Salinas) had refused a rerun then it's effectively a second round bye and treated as such. Based on that I doubt Salinas would have received any additional compensation. Sucks for her but bad luck unfortunately plays no favorites.
There was no time recorded, so doubtful. DRC said the pass looked like a good one too.Did he receive his qualifying points though

Tony Stewart winning it over Richard Gadson ruffled some feathers.Wasn't there a couple pro stock bike rookies a few years ago where one won a race, and the other finished higher in points, which was the said reasoning of that rider winning rookie of the year because they had a more consistent season, even though they didn't win a race? I don't remember the strength of their off-track dog & pony show factoring into it, but I could be wrong, my memory isn't what it use to be.
