NHRA Heritage at Wild Horse

Does anyone know if this race is still on for May 3-5? NHRA site says those are the dates, but Wild Horse web site doesn't have a listing for it. I sent Wild Horse an e mail but no response. Wonder if it has been cancelled? Would appreciate any info. Thanks!

I know we have FND and then a team race on Saturday; but, I haven't heard anything about the Heritage race. At all. Unfortunately, I don't have access to their event calendar, so I'm in the same boat as you. Maybe Jeff Wolf or Tim Charlet will hop online and give you a quick answer.

Thanks Chris. I did see it listed on Wild Horse site some time ago, & noticed it's not listed anymore, so am wondering if race was cancelled or moved. NHRA site still says May 3-5. argh It's one of my favorite races to attend.

Rumor is that it has been rescheduled to October 12-13, which in my opinion is a mistake. The ANRA will be having their finals that same weekend at Bakersfield. Most of the nostalgia racers would just as soon drive a shorter distance for a race.

I got nothing. I just show up when I'm scheduled. I'm sure it'll be updated when details are finalized.

BTW, heard awhile ago and again over the weekend that the City of Banning is revisiting the idea of building a track at the airport. Only now the airport is closed and they could potentially use the runway.

Boy I sure hope this happens! the city could use the $ they'd get by leasing a runway as a drag strip.

Gino, the airport isnt closed and the FAA would never allow it.

Morongo Casino was interested in it to fly customer in. 5 minutes from the casino.

The story is some what true. The skydiving school is probably the only business there with traffic but there are a number of private parties that fly in and out of there on a regular schedule. I would just by looking but without checking each one that most of the hangers have renters but not all are aviation. Keep in mind, Peterson is still on the council but isnt mayor any more so his pulled isnt as strong. The big problem for Banning is that Beaumont has gone after every business in the area including the big box stores and got them while Banning has continued to take a wait and see approach. I'm not sure what their plans are today but you have a better chance at winning the lottery than a drag strip going there or any other place in So Cal.
