New FSS Rules (1 Viewer)

Doh! I forgot about the electronic engine management now in NASCAR. NASCAR doesn't have to allow someone to be light to get the fan pleasing result. They can do it with the box. (Look at the curious history of Daytona 500 pole sitters).

Wouldn't it be interesting to have piles of Ford, Chevy and Fiat ECU's in a pile at the head of the staging lanes. Factory stock drivers close their eyes and randomly pick the appropriate NHRA supplied ECU for their car. There is a world of really interesting things swimming around in an ECU.
Fuel injection in PS was talked about for years before it was allowed. There is an inherent problem with electronics....allow any mods and teams need to hire computer geeks to play with the boxes. The boxes will become as expensive as titanium parts and as secret as the terrible towels on the intake manifolds. On TF and FC there are air systems to prevent electronics from running racing. Will we see fuel injection be controlled by air timers in PS soon? At least the teams could experiment with their set ups like they could with carbs....
