one sticker per team--per yr---for "ONE" pit vehicle--------I suppose Force will have to decide between------- park the scooter or pull the FC with it

not meaning to sound anti luxury but I don't think it would be that big of a deal I mean what are feet for

Feet are for stomping on the Throttle.... But how are they gonna get to all those Media interviews, and sponsor commitments, and take care of the fans, and Warm up the car, and collect their thoughts before making a pass in a 300mph race car....? Sounds like every pro team needs an NHRA OFFICIAL to SHUTTLE THEM AROUND TO THESE EVENTS...... I'm glad once again NHRA is working on Pressing, Hard Hitting, Die Hard Issues like .... Pit vehicles?

When is the Charlotte Race again???;)

Terry B, JRod and myself were at standing at the fence at Sonoma.
(Where the "comcast" sign used to be)

These older gentlemen fans in a golf cart with two chairs on it's roof parted the crowd, drove thru and parked at the fence.
They had brought a folding aluminum ladder to lean up against the back of the cart and climb up on to it's roof.
That was kinda too much.
Just as they were setting up the ladder, an official came by and said "No".

Musta mixed up Infineon with Famoso.

I bet this causes a riot at Brainerd in the Zoo.

3.) Auxiliary pit vehicles may be used for necessary transportation only. "Joy riding," cruising, or recreational riding is prohibited. Vehicles are only allowed on the facility when the owner is actually competing in the event. Spectators, guests, and non- participants are not allowed to bring pit vehicles onto the property.

This was a long time coming. Nothing pisses me off more than a couple of kids (just barely teens) roaming the pro pits in a golf cart!

My thoughts exactly....funny how this happened just before Brainerd....

I'm glad they put this rule into effect. Not so much against the teams, but the other people running around on these things.

I was walking through the pits at Norwalk, and all of Morgan Lucas' team came riding by to the lanes on carts. All of the sudden I see Morgan walking and eating a cupcake or cookie or something. So I say to him, "they are making you walk to the lanes and they are all riding?", and he starts laughing and says "I have to walk off this cupcake I'm eating!".

I'd say this is aimed more towards the sportsmen than the pros. Something tells me you'll still see Force on the scooter.

"NOTE: Unsafe or improper operation of any vehicle and/or any violation of these rules may, at the sole discretion of NHRA, result in penalties against the owner and/or operator, including, but not limited to, immediate impoundment of the vehicle, loss of racing privileges, and/or expulsion from the NHRA."

Or a $100,000.00 fine - depending on who it is -

That I do agree with, however Timmah's right getting around the Pits can be a Major PITA! And I just don't see how they can enforce this!!!

Get Compton to roll them around the pits in his Bentley. It's probably registered as a "Company car" anyway.

Did something cause this rule to come out? I know we had a kid get hit by a 4 wheeler or some other tow "vehicle" on the 4th of July this year at our local track...
The pros seem to be pretty responsible with them, its the young ones who just fly up and down there and think people are gonna get outta the way.

What's the big deal? Division 1 tracks have had the same rules since 2005 or so. Additionally they charge you 10 bucks for the sticker and you have to fill out a form swearing on your first born's life you have liability insurance on the pit vehicle.

This rule was put into effect because a small percentage of racers will not supervise their kids while at the track. I would have thought a better solution would be to throw them all out, kids, parents, race car, trailer and all for any infraction of the pit rules.

Unfortunately this would require uniform enforcement of the rules across all tracks and some just wouldn't do it.

No, they won't unanimously comply. Many tracks struggle to get decent car counts to start with, so there's no way in hell they're going to throw someone's entire operation out for an infraction of a rule that, for the most part, has been around forever. It may not have been communicated as clearly as this latest notice, but I've lost count of how many times I've heard announcements over the PA regarding this very topic over the years.

Like someone said earlier, it's bad enough trying to get around some of these facilities anyway. That being said, I would think they'd be much better served putting the effort towards policing the proper use of the vehicles rather than the number.

I don't think the new rules will apply to the campground at BIR. People who camp in the ZOO have never been allowed to drive their scooters/pit vehicle/ATV/etc. into the pro or sportsman pits anyway. (as far back as I can remember anyway)

I realize it says "non- participants are not allowed to bring pit vehicles onto the property" but I doubt this will apply to the ZOO at BIR. They charge $25 for every golf cart, atv, scooter, garden tractor, home made contraption, etc. that goes into the campground and I'm sure Jed (the track owner) won't just give up that revenue without a fight. Keep in mind, the campground is run completely separate from the pits. Sure, you need a ticket for the race to get into the campground but I don't think the NHRA has any say as to what goes on in there.

I could be dead wrong, and if I am, they better call out the National Guard to Brainerd Minnesota because you're probably right.... the riot will be huge!

How much is this going to cost Jack Mac??????????????????????
(Jack MacCormick...cart renter and Super Star!!!!-with respect!)
