People diss Don Schumacher, but "thank" Knoll for everything he's done for the sport. Wow.....
I'll just never understand how some people think.
Do you think some people do that because the Don is building a drag racing empire instead of spreading his money around?Just a thaught.
Correct me if I am wrong butttttt.. Don Schumacher is using his own earned money to run his business, instead of spreading around someone elses funds that he never earned, then bouncing checks and contracts on those who got a piece of the "spread"
Second, if you think there is something wrong with what DSR is doing, then you should be upset with every successful race team on Earth, such as Hendrick, Petty, Penske, Childress and the like.
People curse the successful, but love the bum.
I respect Don Schumacher. I respect Forrest Lucas. I respect Roger Penske. These men are special. These are people who have risked, worked, earned and benefitted.
I don't look at "spreading it around" as some sort of positive for a man building a race team.
That's the sponsor's job.

No, what everyone needs to understand is that LForce is not more intrig......or whatever!! It's just the Force name is supposedly more important.
But doesn't this say it all. ESPN2 and now ND putting FORCE before "the real world." I'm sorry, before that REAL RACER!!!

Yeah, she looked intriguiging when her husband steered is Castrol Sanyo Brand Source Ford Pinto to the right at INDY last year.
And before anybody rips me, NO....thats N.....O....., I could careless that John Force helped Hight into the Countdown, really. It pissed me off more that John Force forfeited a US Nationals trophy. And yes, Hight deserved the 2009 Champ trophy in my opinion because none of the other 9 slackers could do anything with him!!!!!!!!! My beef is with John throwing away the US Nationals! Peroid!

It would be beautiful if Roger Penske got in to nitro racing. I have tremendous respect for his abilities as a businessman. I have even more respect for him as a leader and a person.
It is America's loss that his deal with Saturn fell through.
What's so bad about Don Schumacher? Other than he grew up wealthy? He did the national tour for years back when men were men and raced two or three places a week for the whole season. (And every dragstrip could afford at least a 2 car nitro match race now and then.*) You've got to have more than money to live that life for the years he did. You've got to have heart and absolutely love nitro. He's run the family business for some time now and if your only talent is being the son of the boss, the business would have folded up a long time ago.
I'm not a rabid Don fan and I'm sure there's lots of nasty stuff I don't know about, like there always is on the inside, but his net contribution to drag racing seems pretty positive to me.

*nostalgia nitro seems to be reviving that era, as the number of nostalgia cars is growing every year. Affordable nitro racing for guys that have day jobs - just like the good old days. And, if you were hardcore, you could turn pro and go on the tour and make a living at it!
