I watched it, and it will be the last episode I ever watch. I hope these guys don't really believe they're drivers of ANY kind........

what kind of signal does it send to the NHRA, IHRA, and all other forms of sanctioned, organized class drag racing? Is anybody in Glendora trying to figure it out? Because if the Stars of a "reality" television show that encourages grudge style street racing, can out-draw one of the all-time-greats from the NHRA, than the aforementioned NHRA had better wake the heck up and do some serious introspection from top to bottom.
These "street" type of cars actually packed SGMP to overflowing a couple weeks ago. They were turning spectators away at the gate by noon Saturday
That's the future, and many have their heads burried in the sand.A line of cars 5 miles long from both ways waiting to get in. Some people drove over 6 hours to get there, but couldn't get in. The NHRA got too cookie cutter (too many rules), the race at SGMP no two cars were the same, and racing was heads up.
So, knowing the nature of racers, how do you keep something like that from becoming an all out money war?
Full tube frame and panel cars, its already a money game.Pretty sure all these fast door cars are already very expensive.
the commenters in that thread seem to want the exposure the show brings to their town (i.e.: OKC has continually passed them by....I guess as in revenue coming into their town) even though it has increased illegal street racing activities there. Wait until somebody gets killed and then it'll be NIMBY !
After having said what they did, I have a hard time believing the council and police would retain any credibility if they considered and approved any future permits.

What revenue could it be generating for OKC? (outside of filming permits for the show) It's not like tourism has increased or OKC is getting a cut of the TShirt sales. No other shows have rushed in to increase filming permit revenue. If anything the message is "we have had a top 10 list for decades for illegal activities because our law enforcement and city leadership is below average".
