We were at about the 330 clocks where it all started to go wrong. I saw the left side body panel tear loose as it headed for the center line, and when he corrected it seemed to almost instantly flop over on its side and point to the wall. Then up and over like it was a mere speed bump. I've never seen a car go over the wall before and that was scary, plus it took a while for the safety crew to ensure he could get out of the car safely. Some tense moments for sure, and we were really glad to hear he was OK.
Saw an accident eerily similar to this one at the Lebanon Valley Divisional, about four or five years ago, during the first round of qualifying. The car wasn't all that far out of the lights when it happened, so it didn't have the speed that this accident did, but the way the car just skipped over the wall was very alarming. Fortunately it was not on the spectator side of the track, and there were no injuries. I never did hear who the driver was, though.
