My mom was a Cajun, born in Kaplan, LA, in 1916. Born on a farm so no birth certificate. She had to use her Baptism certificate to prove her age. (Passed 2003). Her first name was Mathe, pronounced Mott (means Martha in French). She became a nun to get off the rice farm, said enuf of this, became a Marine in WWII. !! Airplane mechanic. Stationed at El Toro Marine Base (OCIR was next to it), got married to my dad, discharged cuz preggers with me. heh I tell that story and usually get What? Your mom was a nun and a Marine? heh
