McMillen ends double duty season optimistic

ELKHART, Ind. (October 24, 2007) - Terry McMillen pulled double duty during the 2007 Knoll-Gas Motorsports Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series driving both the Amalie Oil InstiGator Funny Car and the Evan Knoll backed Torco Nitro Top Fuel Dragster owned by Doug Foley and Tim Lewis.

McMillen's double effort marks the first time in IHRA professional drag racing history that someone was competed in two classes and finsihed in the top 10 of the points standings. McMillen finished Top Fuel in 5th and Alcohol Funny Car 6th in points. McMillen's teams saw improvement all season long with constant progress being made with the Funny Car and two event wins in Top Fuel (Edmonton and Toronto).

"It was an exciting year," McMillen said. "We learned a lot of things that will help us be even more competitive in the 2008 season. I think you're going to see a lot of exciting things coming out of the Hoosier Thunder Motorsports camp. The new season starts today. We'll have a lot of exciting announcements in the next few months that set the tone for our team in '08."

McMillen knows that his success on the race track can be attributed to his marketing partners. "We couldn't do this without the great partners that we have. Amalie Oil has been with us for awhile now. They're always moving forward with new and exciting opportunities. What can I say about Evan Knoll that hasn't already been said? He believed in me enough to give me a chance at Top Fuel and two years ago put his personal dragster out there to help me get a license. I can't thank the big guy enough."

Beside winning his first two national events, McMillen also competed in his first NHRA event and reset his personal best performance records in Top Fuel several times during the season. The IHRA World Finals at Rockingham Dragway would be the scene of his latest accomplishment. McMillen's Saturday afternoon performance of 4.617 seconds would temporarily put him atop the class and reset his personal best elapsed time. "That run was even better that it showed at the end. We hung a few rods out and knocked the blower off of the car so that run should have been in the fifties," McMillen said.

Watch for upcoming announcements from Terry McMillen and Hoosier Thunder Motorsports regarding the 2008 racing season.
