Pro Stock Motorcycle racer, Angie McBride is making a name for herself in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The Outlaw bike Champion has accomplished a lot in her young career, but some of her best memories have happened on her Carolina Speed/Myhollywood.com Buell over the last two weeks.
With McBride not in the Countdown to One, she has had nothing to lose in the last few races on tour and she has been doing everything possible to knock the heavy hitters off their horses.
After taking out two Three-time NHRA Champion’s last weekend in Dallas, McBride was poised and ready once again this weekend in Memphis as she headed into Sunday’s eliminations.
Qualifying herself in the 12th position aboard reigning Champion and current point’s leader, Matt Smith’s Buell, McBride kept her focus as she took on Indy Champ and Countdown contender Steve Johnson first round. McBride did her job well and proved just why she should not be taken lightly as she took out Johnson first round.
Second round she yet again, for the second consecutive week went up against Three-time Champion, Andrew Hines. Knowing she needed to do everything possible to try and throw him off his game, McBride was determined she was not going to stage. As she and Hines sat in the pre-stage beams for 58 seconds, Hines would become too anxious and foul out against McBride for the second time in a row.
McBride made her way into the semi-finals for the second consecutive week, but her raceday however would soon come to an end as Craig Treble, eventual race winner beat her in round three.
“The last few weeks have been amazing,” said McBride. “I knew I had to just focus on the job at hand and whatever happens would just happen. I was going to give it all I could and hopefully things would turn out in my favor, and they did. We have taken out some big hitters the last few weeks and it is the greatest feeling ever. To sit with Andrew in a staging battle that long and come out on top is just the greatest feeling ever. I am so excited and I can’t wait for Vegas.”
Wait however, she will, as the Pro Stock Motorcycle class has three weeks off before heading into the final two races on tour at Vegas and Pomona.
