McBride Has Career Best Weekend at the Gators

Angie McBride went into the ACDelco Gatornationals with high hopes and after an eventful weekend, McBride came out pleased.

With only two qualifying attempts to make the show due to a rain out on Friday, McBride knew she would have to remain calm and focused if she wanted to get in on Saturday. Running two incredible passes during that afternoon, McBride qualified her Buell in the sixth position as she recorded a career best 7.024 et at 188.31 mph. Which not only earned the drag racing beauty a position in the Pro Stock Motorcycle field, but McBride also won the Full Throttle Award for the class as well.

Going into Sunday, McBride had to face off against Wesley Wells first round. Never having won a round of competition before at an NHRA event, McBride was poised and ready to make the stat change. McBride had her hands full as she won her first round of racing in a professional class after having to fight her bike from crossing the center line.

“Man, I had my hands full,” said McBride. “I went straight to the center line when I left and had to fight it the whole way down the track. I let up a bit to try and pull it back over and when I never saw Wesley I just had to keep on plugging. I looked up and didn’t see the win light an either lane, so I had to just hang on and luckily we got the win.”

Second round McBride had to face off against Andrew Hines. After cutting another good light McBride’s bike wouldn’t shift into second forcing her to let up and lose the round.

“All in all it was a good weekend,” said McBride. “We qualified in the top half, which I have never done, we won the Full Throttle Award for the most consistent bike and I won first round, so I can’t be disappointed at all. We ran well and I can’t wait to get back to it at Houston in a few weeks.”

Still looking for a sponsor for her Buell, McBride will keep plugging away in hopes of finding something. She, along with the rest of the NHRA will race again in two weeks at Houston Raceway Park.
