Matt Hagan Racing News: Hagan Opts For Alberta

July 9, 2007 - EDMONTON, ALBERTA CANADA--Matt Hagan and crew are packing up for the long trip home after a semi-final finish in last weekend's CARS RV & MARING Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO.

Hagan qualified 8th out of 21 total cars, placing him in the top half of the 16 car field, and piloted his 1963 TORCO ACCELERATOR Split-Window Corvette all the way to the Semi-finals before being eliminated.

"We had a consistent car," said Hagan. "The crew stepped up and gave me a solid ride. It was all on me this weekend."

Hagan took out Harold Martin in Round 1 and bested Eddie Ware in Round 2 with a 6.178/228.58 MPH pass before falling to Carl Spiering in the Semi-finals.

"I'm extremely happy with our performance this weekend," said Matt. "We took the next step towards the success we know we're capable of."

Hagan's Semi-final finish this weekend is so far his best effort of the 2007 season, which started out with a non-qualifying performance in San Antonio.

"We've had a tough hill to climb this year," explains Hagan. "I definitely feel that we've improved leaps and bounds since that first race."

Hagan now sits 7th in IHRA Competition Plus Pro Modified points. "We've got a lot of races left and a lot more ground to make up," Hagan said. "We need to keep improving and having great showings like this one to end up on top of that points ladder."

Next weekend Matt will be competing at his home track in Radford, Virginia for Motor Mile Dragway's first Extrem Class race of the 2007 season. For more information logo on to Motor Mile Dragway or Matt Hagan Racing.com
