Maryland Plays Rough With McMillen

BUDDS CREEK, Md. -- When the Torco Race Fuels President's Cup Nationals rolled into Maryland, Terry McMillen had an idea that it would be a tough race. McMillen and his Amalie Oil InstiGator Funny Car, powered by Torco Race Fuels fought a tough field at Maryland International Raceway. The Hoosier Thunder Motorsports team would be bumped from the field after the final qualifying round, just 0.030 seconds from a chance to compete in eliminations.

"It's a really good track and a really tough track all at the same time," said McMillen. "We just found ourselves on the tough side of getting down this track." While McMillen was disappointed to miss the Sunday race, he did leave Maryland encouraged. "We didn't hurt anything but our feelings," McMillen added, referring to not hurting the engine during qualifying. "We're closer on our setup, we're just about where we were in Martin earlier this year. We've got a little time before the next race, so we'll find a track and run the tires off is this InstiGator and get ready for the next race." The final stop for the Amalie Oil InstiGator this season is the IHRA World Finals, featuring the JCB Night of Fire in Rockingham, North Carolina, October 20-22, 2006.

With one race remaining, McMillen has the opportunity it add another top five finish to his career IHRA statistics. "We always set out to win a championship when the season starts," said McMillen. "Until we win one, I guess we'll always be a little disappointed. Mainly because we have the best partners in the business and we want nothing short of a championship for them."

The InstiGator team partners with high quality and high performance companies like; Amalie Oil, Torco Race Fuels, eRaceFuels, Flatout Gaskets, NGK Spark Plugs, MSD, Fatheadz.com, GO Graphix, Powershield Coatings, Crane Cams, eMax and No Limit Custom Coach.
