Michigan Panthers of the UFL used Ford FieldYes, but not other leagues......
And a college bowl game isn't the same.
Sounds like the NHRA said F U , took their ball and went home.....
Maybe sanctioning bodies that want to purchase race facilities should do so under a shell corporation for some separation ....
Or....maybe since the NHRA is a not for profit membership, the members should raise holy hell with their club and force a vote on whether to continue to race at the Grove....
But, a Pro football stadium would not allow/permit another Pro football league to use the stadium.
Which team has allowed another team to use a stadium it owns?Pro football has allowed other teams to use their stadiums.
Ford Field is owned by the Detroit/Wayne County Stadium Authority, not the Detroit Lions.Michigan Panthers of the UFL used Ford Field
Maybe you didn't follow the announcements at PRI over the weekend but NHRA just announced their alignment with US131 on Thursday or Friday. Saturday IHRA announced buying MG. Today NHRA announced moving MG to US131, their newly sanctioned track. Not really a surprise at all. Good timing or coincidence? I don't know.NHRA wasted no time in replacing Maple Grove on the schedule and hard to believe that they could move the 1st Countdown race to US 131 in Martin, MI that quickly.
Thats what I call scrambling. I am bummed to see Maple Grove leave the NHRA schedule as it was such a great record producing track.
Roger that Harry, it's a win-win for us here. The nice part is it's only 4hrs from Indy, so the teams for once will be saving $$$. On travel expenses
James,
You are correct about the other facilities. But, a Pro football stadium would not allow/permit another Pro football league to use the stadium.
Most Racetracks do hold other events, but not events that are direct competitors. WalMart and Target are direct competitors hence, one could not use the other's facility.

The Chargers play at SoFi Stadium which is owned by the Rams owner(s).Which team has allowed another team to use a stadium it owns?
I would imagine this was not sprung on NHRA and steps to change location start some time ago.NHRA wasted no time in replacing Maple Grove on the schedule and hard to believe that they could move the 1st Countdown race to US 131 in Martin, MI that quickly.

Well the New York Jets and New York Giants play at the same stadium in New Jersey so.......................
Off topic, but from the NASCAR trial, they were worried about the short-lived SRX Series for reasons that make sense only in the heads of NASCAR upper management. Two teams in the same league share a stadium. That's not unique, the Rams and Chargers share a stadium.
And NASCAR and Indycar share a few tracks, but they are not in the same business.
