Might want to read some of the previous reponses where he has set aside and still contributes money just to fund this IHRA venture. His primary company is heavily involved in some really big money corporations contract wise. I highly doubt money is an issue or he wouldn't have taken this step.It appears that IHRA will only host big events at IHRA owned facilities. It will be interesting to see how well they remain in good condition once the money gets thin.
That's my fear for all the tracks they have bought. Many are very good facilities and losing them to real estate developers or some such would be a devastating blow to the sport.Boy, I consider that bad news. The Koretsky's seem to have done a nice job with the track, especially with the advertising - since as far as I know, they have continued to have good crowds for the NHRA event.
So when the IHRA collapses after a year or two, what happens then to Maple Grove?
He's got a lot of money - good for him. 1/8 mile racing at formerly great 1/4 mile tracks - bad for the sport. It's taken me 15 years to adjust to fuel cars shutting off short.....now he wants to shut them off at 660'? No thanks.Might want to read some of the previous reponses where he has set aside and still contributes money just to fund this IHRA venture. As of a few minutes ago it's still on the Nhra website but the get tickets link is gone.Maple Grove is on the nhra schedule lol
Never new Larry Morgan was that closely involved with IHRA management. Sounds like the Nhra can go ahead and run the Keystone Nationals in 2026. I bet their as suprised as everyone else.![]()
IHRA ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF MAPLE GROVE RACEWAY | Competition Plus
The IHRA announced its acquisition of Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa., marking a significant milestone for the sport of drag racing and another bold movecompetitionplus.com
Informative article…not sure NHRA will agree to keep it on the schedule. Interesting times.
I grew up about 90 minutes from the track and used to go regularly, my friends have been blowing up my phone about this. They have nothing good to say if the NHRA race is canceled. I told them about the comp plus article where Larry Morgan said they are open to having the NHRA race there. Fingers crossed they can coexist. I did find it encouraging that he is looking at bringing back Atco.Absolutely sickening. Maple Grove is 6 miles from us and I’ve been going to the Nationals since 1992, often Thursday-Sunday.
Agree 100%. I live in Easton. Been going 35+ straight years. I'm sorry but 1/8 mile Top Fuel and Funnh Car doesn't excite me. Place was always packed for NHRA, I don't see that with IHRA. Hope I'm wrong and people still come, but IHRA has there fingers in to much stuff now. Being honest, don't see it lasting long. Probley be back to NHRA track in a couple years.Absolutely sickening. you know how to become a millionaire in drag racing? Start out a billionaire. I hope they make it and the money flows down like wine. Except this guy isn't just starting with a billion dollar stash and spending it. From what I've heard, yes he has a LOT of money, but he is continuing to generate more as time goes on with his core business. I don't love everything about what IHRA is doing, but they are doing a lot right. I'm not going to worry about the "what if" scenarios right now. Let's see how 2026 goes. If nothing else, between all the driver/crew shake ups in the big show, and the wild onslaught of activity with the resurgent IHRA, this could be a very good time for drag racing.you know how to become a millionaire in drag racing? I think IHRA announcing Maple grove turned PRI upside down! NHRA---Hey guys, we're gonna increase sportsman purses a tiny bit for you. IHRA---Hold my beer. Some may disagree this, but I think the IHRA buying Maple Grove is bigger news than Vandergriff driving the JFR funny car.
