Lucas posts first-round finish

Las Vegas, Nov. 2 -- Morgan Lucas and his Lucas Oil Stabilizer Top Fuel team were beaten in the first round of eliminations on The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway at the eighth annual ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals by Cory McClenathan.
Lucas was razor-sharp off the starting line reacting first with a .037-light and was ahead of his adversary until his powerful dragster dropped a cylinder around the mid-track point. The resulting loss of power reflected in his elapsed time of 3.967 seconds, 299.13 mph after Cory Mac took the win light with his pass of 3.859 seconds, 310.63 mph.
The 24-year old driver from Brownsburg, Ind., qualified No. 12 in the tough Top Fuel field with an elapsed time of 3.895 seconds, 307.86 mph.
Lucas stays 12th in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel standings with 930 points with only one race remaining on the drag racing schedule.
