Line Will Start Second at the Texas Motorplex (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]Although qualifying for NHRA Fall Nationals in Dallas, TX concluded with two sessions on Saturday, the unseasonably high temperatures at the Texas Motorplex precluded any changes among the Top 12 qualifiers in the Pro Stock category. As a result, Jason Line’s 6.611 second, 209.33 mph pass from Friday afternoon remained his run of record, earning the Summit Racing Pontiac the second starting position for Sunday’s final eliminations.

This left the final two attempts as trial runs for race day. At first glance, it would seem it had been a productive day, as Line carded the fourth quickest time in each session. However, feeling they still had some ground to make up between themselves and No. 1 qualifier and points leader Mike Edwards, Line and crew immediately turned their attention towards finding the speed they felt was missing.

“Looking at the data, it looks like our Summit Racing Pontiac made four decent runs,” said Line. “Unfortunately, they were just not as quick as we thought they should have been, so we have some work to do before the first round. Fortunately, we have a good starting spot and lane choice for the first round, so we=2 0have something to build on.

“Of course, being off like this has us a little concerned, but one way or the other, we’ll put it out of our minds tomorrow and concentrate on doing whatever we need to win some rounds. The good news is that it’s drag racing, where anything can happen, and we’re going to try to make sure it comes out in our favor tomorrow.”
