[coverattach=1]POMONA, Calif. – In what has been a career season for second year NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver Brandon Lewis and his family’s TigerFlow Systems/Morrison Construction backed team hope to finish it with a bang during this weekend’s season closer, the Auto Club Finals at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif. Lewis scored his first national event win earlier in the year in Brainerd, Minn., and recently scored his first divisional final round last month in Noble, Okla.
Lewis, 23, of Broken Arrow, Okla., hopes a strong showing this weekend will give the team momentum going into the 2009 season.
“We’re just out here trying to finish out the year strong,” said Lewis. “It would be real nice to get a win to cap a good year off. We’ll have Steve Boggs helping us again this weekend, which always gives you confidence. We’re getting a new Joe Monden chassis for next year, so we would love to win our last race in this car; she’s been good to us.
“We have some big things to announce soon for next year, and hopefully we can get some more attention with a strong showing out here,” added Lewis. “Plus my dad [Dave] is from out here, so it’s like coming home to race for him.”
Qualifying begins on Thursday for the alcohol cars, with two more sessions on Friday. Eliminations begin with round one on Saturday and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
