Steve, this is an incredible photo gallery!
That interview was great. Anyone know what year that was from? Also, check out the Wax Daddy video clip. That guy is hilarious.
I'm usually a bit ho-hum about photo albums but I have to agree with the others - these are SO excellent. They brought back some great memories of the way drag racing used to be. It was great to remember some of those cars I'd forgotten about long ago.
Thoughts that came into my head while browsing the collection, in no particular order:
Gravel pits, no ropes, walk right up.
STUPID hats!
One word: Sideburns
No, it wasn't just hormones. Jungle Pam WAS that breathtaking.
Rusty Glidden was really young when he started helping his dad.
Pro Comp rules!
Shirley Muldowney and Afrosheen.
You could plug your scoop with a jacket/t shirt/pillowcase. Nobody cared.
Pro Stockers were actually real cars. They drove to the starting line in a parade.
The Rod Shop Hemi Colt has to be one of the top 5 cool comp cars of all time.
That picture of Jenkins may be the best I've ever seen.
OK, enough of a geezer wheezing about the good old days. But, hopefully the other old guys out there can help me with a couple of questions.
Whose Pro Stock car is shown in the photos of a wrecked car in the shutdown area?
I can't read the emblem on the quarter panel of Garlits' truck. What did they call those? Prospectors?
Anyhow, thanks so much for the memories.
