If they let Ford run the over head cam and just stretch the motor to 500 c.i. or maybe smaller depending on the power they find.

It's time for NHRA to accept the fact that Chry. is running them also. but not in the primitive P/S category. Get with the times of today's technology !
 
what capacity will papa johns have in 2017? full time with a team? part time with a team? nhra official pizza? sold at all the races?

what personnel changes will take place within nhra to better it's tv product?

how many races in 2017 will be live vs. tape delayed? some 2016 ratings proved worse than 2015 tape delayed.
 
Fix for Pro Stock, remove requirement that says that you have to run same make engine for make of car. This way Camaro, Mustang, Chrysler Dodge can run what ever engine they desire as long as it is 500 cu in. Now fans can watch there brand be competitive instead of 14 plus Camaros running at every race. Heck that's what they do in Funny Car they just change the valve covers. Now is that silly or what?

Fix for Pro Stock (because there's pushback on replacing it with Pro Mod):

I agree get with the today's tech and open the class to ALL makes......ALL makes. Its nearly 2017 and we are just now talking about PS first full year of EFI......WTH!!!

Crap. I gotta quit reading this forum and responding first thing in the morning. I totally agree 100% with you yet when I went to click on the little "agree" thingie below I hit disagree instead. My bad. I gotta change my staging procedures, coffee first THEN read the 'mater...
 
I think you can change your "agree thingie" anytime you want.....I have in the past....just click what you want and it replaces the first one;)
 
The nitro coupes that ran in the Super Chevy Series were really Pro Mod cars. I believe they ran 30% or less nitro, which isn't enough to make a big difference. A true nitro coupe would be Scott Palmers TF door car, which NHRA wants no part of. What would be cool is to add injected nitro to PM, and TAFC while we're at it!
 
You know Scott Palmer would be all over that like flies on $hit for sure.

I always wondered why they didn't run injected nitro in the TAFC class.
Maybe someone can chime on that? Hood scoop thing instead of a bird catcher would we non appealing?

nitro into pro mod would create another class that would keep the fans in their seats after top fuel:cool::cool:
 
They would obviously hafta keep it a separate class because if not, They would be constantly changing weight, percentage of nitro, etc. to be competitive with the NOS, Turbo, and Supercharged cars.

It would be an Awesome class if it ever came to fruition but the way NHRA thinks, prob. won't ever happen.
 
NHRA wants fans in the seats, just add up everything that makes the news.....

Doorslammers on Nitro, with dry hops and starting line burndowns .....clutches set up to smoke the tires, that way every round becomes a Pedalfest ....and throttle whacks begin again in the pits

and then both the cars shed their bodies in the lights, and the winner is the car that gets to the catch net first!

(upside down on fire is extra points, you know those little points matter in the Countdown!)
 
2017 rules revision
ALL funny car bodies must be 1970 era. They must be recognizable as the make and model without having to have decals to differentiate the brands. Any make and model the car owner wants to run is acceptable.
