It looks like have lost another Legend of Drag Racing. I knew he was ill for some time but I just wasn't expecting to hear this today. My best to his family and friends.
Thanks for letting us know, I remember Leroy in the Vega FC from Arizona at OCIR. I believe the FC was named Arizona Wildcat or something like that. RIP.
Leroy was ahead of his time with Fuel Altereds. His chassis design brought on a whole new era but kinda took the evil out of them. Leroy lived in San Bernardino which at the time was just a huge hot bed for fuel altereds. He drove for Roland in 72.
old leroy was a good friend of mine he taught me how build motors when i was just getting started when i was just 19 now im 36 he showed me how everything worked and how to make it better than they already were. i had a lot of good times with that old grouch. but when you did something right he pat you on the back then went on. he will be miss.
thank you for everything my good friend.
I used to love watching him run. At Pomona late last year, I believe it was Mike Sullivan, was selling Magnificant 7 T-shirts to raise funds for Leory. I made a donation, but declined the shirt. Now I wish I had taken it.
Leroy was a super nice and very talented person. This is such a shame. God Speed my friend.
OK....that's it! No one else can die this year. We've already reached the quota....... The older I get, the more discouraging this sort of news gets. My day will come as well, but as long as I get up on the right side of the grass, it's all good!
