Lee set to play 'home game' in Reading

READING, Pa. - NHRA Nitro Funny Car racer Paul Lee will be playing the drag racing equivalent of a 'home game' during this weekend's Toyo Tires Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa. Coming off a runner-up finish in IHRA competition last weekend, Lee and the Rislone Engine Treatment/J&B Motorsports team hope to use some momentum and homefield advantage to their favor.

Lee, who lives just down the road in Bala Cynwyd, Pa., admits it will be a busy weekend for the team.

"Any time you race at your home track, it's always hectic," said Lee. "We're having our open house at Boninfante Racing Products this week. We're getting a lot of racers stopping by because it's just ten minutes from the airport, and it's on the way to the track. The air and track are usually pretty good this time of year, so I'm excited to see what we'll run this weekend."

Team owner Jeff McGaffic cites his team plans to take the road of consistency rather than trying to set the world on fire with performance.

"We're just going to go do what we can do," explained McGaffic. "We're still in a building phase as a team. We just want to go out there on the first lap and run a number we can build on. We're not trying to run killer numbers, we're just trying to repeat. Right now that's the smartest thing we can do. If we can do that, hopefully we can make a good showing for Rislone. We'll also have quite a few guests from Allied Machine, Society of Automotive Engineers and Science of Racing out this weekend, so we'd love to do good for them as well."

Qualifying begins on Friday with two sessions, followed by two sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations conclude the event on Sunday.
