LE Tonglet out in quarterfinals at Las Vegas (1 Viewer)

LE Tonglet defeated Steve Johnson in the opening round of Sunday’s Big O Tires NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but he couldn’t oust Eddie Krawiec in the Pro Stock Motorcycle quarterfinals.

Krawiec went on to win the race and take a 69-point lead into the final Full Throttle race in two weeks at Pomona. The winner will supplant Tonglet, the reigning champion.

Tonglet left the starting line first and never looked back in beating Steve Johnson in the opening round. The Nitro Fish/Tonglet Racing Suzuki GSXR had a .021-second reaction time to Johnson’s .083 and covered the quarter-mile in 7.019 seconds at 189.18 mph to a losing 7.016 at 190.22.

Tonglet was ready for Krawiec, too, with a .032-second time to a .057, but Krawiec powered ahead. He stopped the timer in 6.957 seconds at 193.29 mph to Tonglet’s 7.075 at 187.68.

The Automobile Club of Southern California Finals ends the 10-race Pro Stock Motorcycle season, Nov. 10-13.
