LE Tonglet has short day at Gatornationals
LE Tonglet came within six-thousandths of a second – and a good start -- in Sunday’s Amalie Oil Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway. He did, however, provide more important data for the Nitro Fish Suzuki Pro Stock Motorcycle team.
He opened the throttle too soon against Steve Johnson in the first round of the Amalie Oil Gatornationals, giving the win to Johnson, who stopped the timer in 6.881 seconds at 194.32 mph. Tonglet crossed in 6.890 at 193.77 mph.
“Steve has been running well so we wanted to step up on the tree (starting lights) and I just missed it,” Tonglet said. “Our bike was running well. We learned a lot about the motor on that run and that will help us. We went faster on every run.”
The team’s primary motor broke on Friday’s second qualifying run.
Their next race is the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, April 19-21.
