I think you're right Dan. They'd look pretty foolish dropping it now after all the hoohah associated with the announcement at Indy.

Heck, it's better to admit a mistake than to commit to one.
The NHRA was afraid that they'd have run a way championships like GA had a while back, but for the most part, the Pts Championships have come down to the last race or two. "The path to hell is paved with good intentions." JMO

If this season has proved that the current points system is more than adequate to produce excitement, and it certainly has, then NHRA should acknowledge that and stay with it. That doesn't seem too hard.
