Priddis, Alberta, July 15, 2006 Fresh off a semi-final finish at the IHRA Motor City Nationals, Western Canada’s Glen Kerunsky enters the IHRA Canadian Nationals as points leader in the IHRA/EMAX National Event Series. The Breckenridge Excavating sponsored 57 Chevy Bel Air has been to 3 final rounds in IHRA competition this season and is looking to duplicate their final round at the other Ontario race the Mopar Canadian Nationals at the Grand Bend in June. “We are looking forward to returning to Toronto Motorsports Park and racing in front of the great Ontario fans there,” states Kerunsky. We ran the AMS/NHRA Pro Mod Series last year and we really missed racing in Ontario and IHRA in 2005. TMP is a top rate facility that is always well prepared and they get a great fan turnout for this race as well as cars.
Kerunsky Racing enters the IHRA Canadian Nationals with a 74 point lead over IHRA veteran Pro Mod racer Quain Stott. “We have to keep running consistent and going rounds to stay on top,” stated Glen. This is a tough class with a deep field at every event so far this year. There were 36 cars trying to make the show at the 2006 Motor City Nationals and the bump ended up at 6.205. That shows how tough the competition is this year when 33 of the 36 cars ran quicker then last years 6.387 bump. There is no coasting in this class and you have to be on top of your game every event just to qualify for Sunday.
The Kerunsky Racing 57 Chevy was built by Tim McAmis Race Cars of Hawk Point, MO. and is powered by London Ontario’s Atchison Machine Service built 526 cubic inch 481x Chevy. The Kerunsky Racing Team is made up of Crew Members Mike Gondziola and Mike Pople along with Glen’s wife Cindy Kerunsky. Glen Kerunsky will handle both the driving and the Crew Chief chores calling all the shots with occasional consulting help from fellow Canadian and 3 Time IHRA Funny Car Champion Rob Atchison.
