Kerunsky looking to rebound at Amalie Oil North American Nationals

Priddis, Alberta, September 5, 2006 Team Kerunsky is looking to regain their early season form after two disappointing races where they couldn’t qualify in the tough Pro Mod class. “We are looking to improve over our recent outings and the Amalie Oil IHRA North American Nationals is as good of place as any,” states driver Glen Kerunsky. It has been really tough on the entire team not to be able to run on Sunday and we have made some changes that will hopefully get us back to being competitive. The car ran real well and consistent in the cooler weather in the spring so the fall swing should prove interesting. September is going to be tough on all of the teams with 3 National Events inside 4 weeks because of the rain delay from Canadian Nationals in July.

Glen and the bright yellow Breckenridge Excavating sponsored 57 Chevy Bel Air still cling to the points lead but have seen the lead dwindle to just 6 points the last few races because of the non qualifying efforts. “We are definitely in a dogfight for the title with 5 cars within a 100 points with the top 3 within 17 points,” states Kerunsky. This is really our first full IHRA season where we have competed for points and it is a very tough class with 40 cars at each event trying to make the 16-car field.

Breckenridge Excavating sponsors the Kerunsky Racing 57 Chevy, which has an all Canadian Team, made up of driver Glen Kerunsky and crewmembers Mike Gondziola, Mike Pople and Team Manager Glen’s wife Cindy Kerunsky. New for 2006 will have Glen doing double duty as both the driver and Crew Chief calling all the shots on race day. The 57 Bel Air is the latest of Glen’s racecars built by Tim McAmis Race Cars of Hawk Point, MO with engine builders fellow Canadians London, Ontario’s Bob and Rob Atchison of Atchison Machine Service.
