Kerunsky returns to Nothern Nationals

Priddis, Alberta, July 31, 2006 After a one month layoff following the rain delayed Canadian Nationals IHRA/E-Max points leader Glen Kerunsky returns to Martin Michigan and the Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals. “ We last raced at the Northern Nationals in 2004 where we finished runner-up,” states Kerunsky. This part of Michigan is really scenic and the US 131 track is one of the best facilities in drag racing. One thing for sure is it’s going to be tough sitting back watching the eight cars race for all that money in the Torco Pro Mod Shootout. It would have been nice to have the points start at the first of the year and we would have had the Breckenridge Excavating sponsored 57 Chevy Bel Air in the Shootout but that is not the format. Unfortunately, we ran the AMS/NHRA Pro Mod Series last year and missed out on our chance to gain 2005 points to qualify for the 2006 Shootout. It is still really great for our class that Torco Race Fuels puts up all that money to qualify at each race and the Shootout.

Entering the IHRA Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals the Kerunsky Racing Team maintains a lead of 74 point over IHRA veteran Pro Mod racer Quain Stott. “ There is no gimmes in this class so we have to keep running consistent and going rounds to stay on top,” stated Glen. You can expect a great field of cars at Martin if the 36 cars trying to make the field at Milan is any indication. If they get the same turnout of such quality cars here I think it would be safe to say that last year’s 6.36 bump will be a lot lower.

The 2006 Kerunsky Racing All Canadian Team is made up of Crew Members Mike Gondziola and Mike Pople along with Glen’s wife Cindy Kerunsky. New for 2006 will have Glen doing double duty as both the driver and Crew Chief calling all the shots on race day. Occasional engine consulting help comes from London, Ontario’s Bob and Rob Atchison engine builders of the Kerunsky Racing AJ 481X engines. The Breckenridge Excavating sponsored bright yellow 57 Chevy is the latest of Glen’s race cars built by Tim McAmis Race Cars of Hawk Point, MO.
