Priddis, Alberta, September 19, 2006 Team Kerunsky and the “All Canadian” Crew return to their native land looking to regain their early season touch and grow their points lead. “ We have struggled a bit of late but maybe coming home to Canada will help us break our poor performance streak of late,” states driver Glen Kerunsky. We have left ourselves room to improve following two disappointing “back to back” DNQ’s and losing in round one at Epping we missed the setup on race day. We have been fortunate to keep our points lead that we had achieved by our earlier consistent performances and we are confident we can regain that early season magic here at home. It is always great to be able to race in front of the Canadian fans and race at such a great facility as Toronto Motorsports Park.
Glen and the bright yellow Breckenridge Excavating sponsored 57 Chevy Bel Air now lead the points by just 3 and are ready to perform at the best of their abilities. “ Just like in boxing we have reached the championship rounds,” stated Kerunsky. We are down to the last three races to decide the title with just 100 points separating 8 cars from the lead. Although we don’t have the experience of racing for an IHRA title we do have our good friends and 3 straight IHRA Funny Car Champions Rob and Bob Atchison there if we need their help. This is really our first full IHRA season where we have competed for points and it is a very tough class with 40 quality cars at each event trying to make the 16-car field.
The Breckenridge Excavating sponsored Kerunsky Racing 57 Chevy features the All-Canadian Team of driver Glen Kerunsky and crewmembers Mike Gondziola, Mike Pople and Team Manager Glen’s wife Cindy Kerunsky. Throughout the 2006 season Glen is doing double duty as both the driver and Crew Chief calling all the shots on race day. The 57 Bel Air is the latest of Glen’s racecars built by Tim McAmis Race Cars of Hawk Point, MO with engine builders fellow Canadians London, Ontario’s Bob and Rob Atchison of Atchison Machine Service.
