That one's fixed, but who is Cruz Pederson?

From aforementioned article..

"after a third-place finish in 2004, Scelzi mastered the class in 2005 when he dethroned John Force, becoming the only non-Force Racing driver to win a championship since Cruz Pederson in 1992"

Must be former Favre backup QB Doug Pederson's brother. I guess :D

With the sponsorship situation as bad as it is, I'd think he would just be glad he announced his retirement when he did. I doubt there are a lot of empty seats out there right now.

After Gary's first retirement announcement, I posted here that it wasn't gonna happen. Resulting in a phone call from an angry Wild Thing - :D
I've resisted posting about subsequent announcements or saying "I told you so"! - ;)

Well since Toliver only won 1 round all year, he probably forgot about him!

I did forget about Toliver. I always thought he was an odd fit with the other three. I suppose that's pretty bad when you go to all the races and spend a few million to do so and avid fans don't remember you. Ouch...

How did Toliver perform last year? Was he quicker and more consistent than Scelzi?

Do Gary Sclezi and Erica "I got a job so lets write a press release" Enders have the same PR people?

This is pretty wild though.

"I want to step back so I can spend time with my business and family"

"Oh wait, the family and business can wait, I want to go racing again!"

"My family needs me"

"If anybody needs a driver, my family can wait!"

He was the slowest and most inconsistent of the three DSR cars, so we really haven't lost anything.

John, I wholeheartedly disagree.

Gary is one of the few stars of the sport ... always great on TV and with the fans at the track ... one of the few guys who actually gets PAID to drive, instead of PAYING to drive. You don't get endorsements from DSR, Oakley and Mopar if "we haven't lost anything". I would think all 3 disagree about losing something.

I think everyone is reading way too much into this. Gary has said all along that it was NOT a retirement, but a sabbatical. He wants to spend more time at his family business, fine. He wants to spend more time with the wife and kids, fine. He wants to run 6-8 events a year, that is fine too. Which scenario is better, Gary rides off into the sunset never to be heard from again, or he stays out there running someone's car a few times a year? As for me, I will side with seeing Gary out there more rather than less ...
